Art Appreciation and Protection, Week 5, Monday, Period 2, 8/3
"For those of you who weren't asleep this weekend, or attempting to help those of us who were... count your blessings." Sophie paused, and fought the urge to yawn. "I'm afraid that all I'd worked up before I fell into a coma was a discussion of the symbolism and codes in The Raphael Cipher. But I can't inflict that on you after all that sleeping, since it's an utter crock anyway." She smiled at them. "Therefore, you get this movie instead. I even brought popcorn. Have fun."
Sophie settled back with aspirin and an icebag.

"Maron?" Sophie asked quietly. "Could you stop by after class?"
Re: Watch the movie/ Chat / Sleep
"I--" she had no idea why, but-- "yes, Professor. I'll stop by."

"I'm sorry," Maron said, "I didn't mean to cause any worry. It was just--a bad weekend."
Understatement of the century? One of them at least.

"Not really," Maron said, still not looking up. "But complaining won't change it."
That lesson she'd learnt well.

Re: Talk to Sophie
It was habit to listen to it in the morning, that was the only reason she'd heard it today.
She took a deep breath, and forced her head up, looking haunted. "I w-was a monster," Maron said, hands curling in her lap. "And it wasn't a dream. It really happened to one version of me."

"It d-doesn't matter," she said, stubbornly determined not to cry. "They were evil and I was o-one of them."
And that scared her.

"I walk with God," she said, finally. "And that other-me... didn't. I don't--understand. Faith doesn't... quit." She didn't quit.

Re: Talk to Sophie
"Something about--blood. Other-me wasn't interested she just..." Maron swallowed. "Played with her food."
And saying that made her blanch.

"I'll try to believe that," she said, though it was a tangled mess in her head. "It does... help," Maron admitted, "to think that other-me didn't chose it."

"God is--good. Light. Faith. Trust. She didn't seem to--miss it. And He wouldn't give up, but He can't do much when He's not wanted."

Maron... pretty much had to believe in the presence of God, being who she was.
