Summer Vacation for Beginners

Tim was not canceling this class. He didn't feel particularly up to anything big though, so instead, the class would watch a movie about Roadside Attractions.

"There are pillows in case you fall asleep." he said. There was also coffee to help keep them from doing so if they wanted it. "And just so you know, I won't be giving a final as such. I'm gonna try to arrange a trip to Busch Gardens instead."

Alex would've been more excited about the not having a final, if she wasn't mulling over what had been happening all week. Frowning slightly, Alex settled in to watch the movie. Or at least try, seeing as her thoughts kept drifting.

Gwynn had been watching Tim and knew something was up.

"What's wrong?" Her voice was worried.

He heroically resisted the urge to cover his throat. "Have you been falling asleep unexpectedly?" he asked.

Which was a good thing as she would have been insulted, confused and hurt by such a defensive action.

She looked confused and then shook her head.

"I have not," she said. "Oh Tim, are you one of the ones being attacked by this new plague?"

She frowned. "Vampires? Are they attacking you?"

"Seemed, uh, to be working up to it." God it was weird talking about this with Gwynn.

"They can't have you," she said firmly.

That made him smile. "I wasn't planning on letting them." Of course it was a dream he had no control over.

She didn't like that. She didn't like that she couldn't help him. The look on her face probably said that more clearly than any words.

Creeped out though he was about the dream, Tim reached out to put an arm around her. "Hey, I'll be fine. We all will. This is Fandom. Bad shit happens, but we make it through."

Gwynn leaned into him. She nodded at his words, but she was still worried for him.

Maybe someday my bosses at work will work out that if they leave me alone to do my job, instead of interrupting me with things to leave my task to do, I might be able to do my job!
