Glinda had a stereo system set up, along with iced coffees and raspberry cheesecake brownies. "Welcome back, everyone," she said, cheerily. "Today, we are going to be discussing music and mood." She began walking around the students, while continuing on.

"In the movies and theater ~~not that I would know anything about that last one~~, music is vital. When a character is not speaking, music sets the tone for the scene. In horror films, it sometimes acts as a warning to the audience- beware, for the killer is about to strike!" She leaped at the nearest student, to give them a jump, and then laughed. "In other spots, it can establish the tone of a location." She paused. "For your assignment today, you are going to listen to three pieces and write down the three feelings or emotions that you experienced while listening. After everyone is done, we will discuss the pieces, and why one person may have felt one way while another felt completely different." She tapped her staff on the ground and headphones appeared in front of everyone. "Let's begin."

Priestly started out listening very carefully and seriously.

But then the angry gothic metal dude in the first one declared himself the "only great white hunter" and he ended up doubled over snickering at his desk.

Well, it was an emotion, right?

1. Hilarity

3. Victory

Glinda looked Priestly's paper over for a moment, and then asked, "What in the first song made you feel that it was hilarious?"

"Did you hear Mr. Over-serious declare himself 'the only great white hunter'? That shit is funny."

"Language, please, Mr. Priestly," she said brusquely. "Yes, it is entertaining when the male vocals announces such a thing, but is that the overall mood of the song?"

"It's the overall one I got from it. I mean, these guys take themselves way too seriously."

What? He was a punk. The goth scene wasn't really his thing.

Liir listened to all of them. And wasn't sure if he was right about any of them.

...also, one of the voices was disturbingly familiar.

"Pomposity," Glinda read. "An interesting choice. What made you decide that the piece was pompous?"

"The grandness of the ideas," he said with a shrug, "and the, er, overly serious execution of it."

Glinda nodded. "Those are both very good points. Do you think that if the music had been different, but they had kept the same lyrics, it would have affected you differently?"

Robin rather liked all three pieces of music.

1. Energetic
2. Hopeful
3. Energetic. Again.

Glinda looked over the first two choices, and then asked Robin, "Did you feel similar energies from the first and third pieces, or were they different?"

Robin thought for a moment. "The first one made me want to go out and do really active stuff, like running, jumping ~~climbing trees~~ skateboarding. The other one made me feel like celebrating."

1. Anxiety. All those people going "ahhhhh" reminded me of being in the waiting room at the doctor's office.
2. Hungry. All that talking about time made me think about how I missed lunch.
3. Like this paper will self destruct in five... four... three... two... one...

After Yakko wrote "one", the paper went up in a quick flame, leaving nothing but ash.

Yakko turned in the pile of ash.

Glinda looked down at the smoldering pile. Then up at Yakko. And then down again.

"Would... you prefer a verbal assignment?" she ventured, after contemplating how one graded ash.

"I'm not sure I could pull off the Keyser Söze thing very well, but I can give it a shot," Yakko said.

Glinda simply gestured for him to begin, while wondering what on Earth he meant by the Keyser whosit.

Yakko stood there. And continued to stand there. "What, I'm not going to get musical accompaniment for this?"

Glinda was starting to keep a tally on the corner of her lesson plan regarding how many shots of liquor this particular student was going to earn her tonight. "Unless you've thought ahead and brought your own, no," she said dryly.

"Now that's just silly. Who brings musical accompaniment to class with them?" Yakko said. Nevertheless, music started to play as if from nowhere.

"The first one caused excitement
Dramatic as can be
But then he started singing
And drama turned to glee
The lyrics were just bad
They couldn't ever please
It probably sounded better
In the original Japanese

The second was more gentle
Starting with piano chords
But as they said the minutes
I started feeling bored
The rememberence was sweet
It could have caused a tear
If I weren't so busy thinking
That it's wrong in a Leap Year

The third caused thoughts of fireworks
With music by Boston Pops
But I can't make things explode
Or someone'd call the cops
So I settled for a quick sight gag
And my paper turned to ash
But now the need for humor is gone
So I'll sweep it in the trash"

Yakko swept the ashes into a wastebasket, and the accompaniment dropped down to just a lone flute as Yakko slowed it down a little.

"Now I've explained my reactions
To your musical distractions
And I've done it orallllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

Yakko paused. That line sounded pretty filthy. The music picked up once again.

"And so I blow a kiss and say, 'Good night, everybody!'"

With the blown kiss, Yakko rushed back to his seat and the music stopped.
