Language Classes, 10/14

Dream has wheeled a large-screen TV into the classroom, and stocked a table up front with sodas, popcorn, Twizzlers, Milk Duds and M&Ms.

We're watching movies in class today -- or as much of them as we can before class ends. Classics students, enjoy Gladiator. Languages of Asia students, you're watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. We'll finish both films next week.

Help yourselves to the snacks at front. And if you fall asleep ... I reserve the right to pay special attention.

Janet yawns and manages to stay awake long enough to study her Indo-European work, but when Gladiator starts, she slowly slumps back farther and farther in her seat until she's dozing in her chair. ~~These really are more comfortable than the SGC infirmary chairs.~~

OOC: Let's try the correct login, shall we?

Dream places one hand on Janet's shoulder and manifests in her dream, a bit wary after his look at Sam's.

Janet wakes up from her chair in the infirmary. She stands, and goes to begin her rounds. The beds are all full. Sam Carter is there, and Jack O'Neill, along with Professor Jackson and a strange man with a gold tattoo on his forehead and an x-shaped scar on his stomach. Charlie Kawalsky is sitting next to them, his eyes glowing an eerie gold.

The last bed is off to the side. Janet steps forward, ignoring the dread growing in the pit of her stomach. The patient lying here is herself, only older, and blood is seeping from her side through the thin, white sheets.

OOC: Ah, yes, angst, how we love you at Fandom High! :)

Dream stands beside Janet, looking down at the patient with her.

She is you.

And also not you.

As this isn't especially remarkable to Dream, he delivers this observance in a neutral tone.

Janet looks over at her language professor and decides not to question it. It's a dream, after all and he's...Professor Dream? She'll question it later, maybe.

"I know," says Janet, smoothing down her older self's hair. "She's not supposed to be here."

Dream considers this, stroking his chin.

Where is she supposed to be? Is this your future, or your past? My brother or sister could tell, but that is not my gift.

[OOC: My turn to use the wrong login.]

Janet looks up at him, her eyes shining with tears that she will not shed. "She's dead now," says Janet. "And now I'm here instead."

The feel of Daniel's arms encircling her as he called for someone, anyone, is vivid in Janet's memory. If she had been able to talk, she'd have told him it was already too late.

Noticing the tears in Janet's eyes, Dream retreats.

I understand.

I can leave you alone with ... yourself. And your friends.

As he did for Sam, he places himself in the background of the dream, there for Janet if she wants him, easy to ignore if she does not.
