James Kirk was a man with a plan. James Kirk was... teaching a group of high schoolers while nursing a bit of a hang over. But Rachel was giving him a challenge here.

God help him.

"Welcome to Tactics, I'll be your teacher. You may call me Captain---yes, that includes you, Bones--Kirk. We'll be studying battles and applying them to times when you're dangling off the edge of something real life scenarios in the class, so I hope you all are willing to try to read a book from time to time in order to keep up."

Try not to look so surprised.

"Since it seems to be all about introductions if the radio is correct, I might as well take a page from your fellow teachers' playbook and do the same. But I want you to tell me why you're hear and why anyone would follow you into a fight."

There was a pause as he seemed to remember something far too amusing for it to be nice.

"Also, everyone say hello to the teaching assistant, Leonard McCoy. He'll be glad to help you if you have any questions. A real people person, right Bones?"

"My name is Spock," said the Vulcan, who was starting to wonder how he'd landed in workshops with teachers who wanted to know about fighting. Really. So violent. "I am here because tactics is not a field I have studied extensively in the past. I would not expect anyone to follow me into a fight, which I would prefer not to engage in to begin with, unless there was a logical reason present for them to do so."

"'M George Cooper," he said easily, thinking this class seemed fifteen times better than that criminal justice one. "An' I'm in this class because I don' know enough about tactics." He shrugged. "They'll be followin' me into a fight because I'll win."

Nothing like overconfidence.

"I'm Gwen Cooper," she said. "I'm in this class because my guardian has a strange idea of what's good for me, and people would follow me in a fight because I'm just that awesome I'd actually have an idea how to kill the slimy tentacle thing." That is if Jack wasn't already trying to sleep with it.

"Diana Hansen. I'm here because I randomly decided this class sounded interesting. And people would follow me into a fight because I know what I'm doing and am telling them what to do." Diana paused. "If you tell panicking people what to do, they do it. You just need to sound confident."

"I'm Naomi Wildman," Naomi said, who was not weirded out by this, really, "I'm here because having good tactics is something useful to have and people would follow me into a fight because I'd hopefully have a good plan to win,"

"I'm Leonard McCoy. You know why I'm here," he said. "And I don't know why someone would follow me into a fight since I'm usually the one following the jackass who is diving in head first to make sure he doesn't kill himself."

Well. At least he didn't name said jackass?

"My name is Danny Fenton," he said, when it got to be his turn for introductions. "I'm taking this class to learn about being a better fighter, since I've been a little... impulsive in the past. And people follow me into a fight because they know I'll protect them if it gets bad and because I know I need their help."

"Tahiri Veila," she said, looking around and wondering how she'd ended up being the one in this class and not Ben or Jaina. That seemed kind of wrong somehow. Then again, both of them had more of a clue about it than she did . . .

"I'm here because for what I do back home, I need a better grasp of this stuff. If people were following me into a fight, it'd be because --" She scratched at the edge of her ear. People following her into a fight. That was almost hilarious. Someone had confidence issues. "I'm the one who knows about what we're dealing with and how the other side thinks."

Hoshi wondered for a moment if being good-looking was some kind of requirement for making captain.

"My name is Hoshi Sato," she began. "I'm here because I wanted to learn something outside my regular skill set... Oh, who am I kidding? I'm here because I may have to figure out how to apply to colleges in this time period instead of going back to my own time, and this workshop looks good on my transcript. People would probably follow me in a fight because I know aikido and I broke a guy's arm over a poker game."

"I'm Anemone," she said simply. "I'm here because my guardian enrolled me in this class as a bribe for continued good behaviour, and people follow me because they know it's safer to be behind me than to get in my way."

"Liir Thropp," he said, glancing around the room. Having heard a few answers, he was reasonably sure that his wouldn't be received very well.

"And I'm here because I have a feeling I'm going to need this information in the future. As for why anyone would follow me?

"I couldn't tell you. I don't have the first idea. I was sort of hoping I'd be able to figure that out from the class."

"I'm Ben Skywalker," he said, "and I'm here because there have been three wars in my galaxy since I was born and my family has been on the front lines of all of them. Not knowing tactics will get me killed." He pursed his lips as he thought about the next part of the question. "And I hope people would follow me into a fight because they'd know I'd lead them back out of it, and I wouldn't be in a fight to begin with without a good reason."

"My name is Helen Haras-Uquara and I am here to learn more about tactics." Honestly, she would have thought that was self-explanatory. "And someone would follow me into a fight because I have the Hand of Uquar."

"My name is Ellie Bartowski," she said when it was her turn. "I'm in this class because I thought it would be a good idea to learn more about tactics." Especially in a town like this. "To be honest, I am not sure anyone would follow me into a fight. I think I'd probably be doing the following and helping to patch people up who are injured."

"My name is Yuffie, and it's always useful to learn new tactics and adapt them for your own uses." She smiled. "As for why anyone would follow me? I've already helped save the world."

"I'm K-Mart," she said. "And I'm taking this class because.... well, it sounded like fun to me."

Her idea of fun was a little skewed sometimes.

"I'm Alex Russo," she began, smiling lightly. "I thought the class sounded interesting and I figured I could make use of what I learn here, back home or in Fandom."

Alex took a moment to think about the next part. "I'm not sure why anyone would follow me into a fight. I'm not much of a fighter really," she shrugged, "all though I do know a bit of magic that might help in those situations." Even if all it did was get people to safety. And she had no problem talking about magic in class.

After class, there was a tall blonde woman lingering in the doorway, a bemused smile on her face as she watched the students flee. "Captain Kirk, I presume?"
