Fashion! Releasing Your Inner Superhero, etc. [Thursday, July 9, 1st period]

"It is far too early," Edna grumbled as she stomped up to the students assembled in the Danger Shop with a cup of coffee almost as tall as she was. "People in the fashion industry seldom trouble with the bothersome morning hours."

She glanced around at the faces assembled before her. "I am Edna Mode, and you fortunate few have been graced with my presence for the precious time between fashions seasons," she announced. "Because you signed up for this class, you either have grand plans of becoming superheroes or have difficulty reading and understanding long words." Her gaze rested on a few students that she thought that might apply to. "Either way, it is far to much work to get out of taking my course. People pay me thousands of dollars to notice them! Why wouldn't you want to be here?"

She didn't stop to let anyone answer that.

"Today you will tell me your name--" she meant a superhero name, "and your boring alterego name if you have one. If I do not find the names to be suitable, I will give you another one!"

She sniffed. "And after that, you will design a logo for your superhero uniform." A snap from her finger and a logo appeared in midair. She smiled. "I do enjoy this room. This is an interesting logo! It is sleek, it has interesting colors, it has an "I" for Incredible for villains who can read...excellent." She'd designed it. "This is just as interesting. THIS is a crime against people with eyes," she snapped. "It's gaudy and pink and incomprehensible! Bah! Do not do such things!"

She clapped her hands together and tables full of fabric, piping, and very sharp scissors appeared. "I will be walking around and offering critique on your choices!" She clapped her hands together again. "Begin!"

Katina Choovanski, who will happily and fashionably throttle whoever was responsible for this paperwork error, oh yes.

"Razormouth," Katchoo said, going with the name she'd gone by that weekend last year when everyone'd been other people. "Or Katina. Whatever."

"Um." A superhero name? That was simply cruel to ask of him. "Emrys, I suppose."

Well it was a name so secret he hadn't heard it before.

"And my name is Merlin."

"Sparky," Liz just went with the name that she had used before, "and I'm Liz Sherman,"

Well, really, Tybalt felt as though his ... Superhero name... would be easy enough to choose.

"The Prince of Cats," he said, crossing his arms over his chest and giving his best predatory grin. "And should any have need to call me otherwise, I am Tybalt, of the house of Capulet."

"I'm Adora, though I have been known as the Princess of Power in some instances." Wait, was I supposed to give a fake superhero name? Adora's face looked like she'd just told a wee bit too much. "Not here though!"

Jennifer thought a lot about this, since this would stick with her all term.

"...The Defender," she decided, even if it did sound grandiose.

Oh. Okay. Because Elle thought 'superhero' was a metaphor for like fabulous or something similar. Not an actual superhero omigod. But hey, she could do this! It'll be super fun!

"Pink Power!" Yay! "But my real name is Elle Woods."

"My superhero name would be Battle Diva! But my real name is Harper," she said.

...Difficulty reading long words, yes, possibly a paperwork error.

Kenshin was hopelessly confused (and a little frightened) by the small woman.

"...Himura... Kenshin...?"

"The White Rose of Wutai," Yuffie told the annoying short woman. "My normal name is Yuffie Kisaragi."

Joolushko hadn't quite understood what this class was all about. Superheros weren't something she was familiar with. No matter. She just had to think of a name, though she couldn't understand what could possibly be wrong with her given name.

"Shrieker," she said, saying the first thing that came to mind. She was positive that nobody on this planet could scream half as well as she could. "My given name," and it was clear which of these names she preferred, "is Joolushko Tunai Fenta Hovalis."

Hmm . . . how likely was she to get away with a logo of a hand flipping someone the bird, if she stylized it up enough?

Or could she just leave it blatantly obvious?

. . . the hell with the stylized version. What Katchoo ended up with was a boldly outlined clenched fist, middle finger extended and emphasized with an outline of lightning bolt-like rays.

It was fierce and awe inspiring... okay, so it was a poorly drawn doodle of the Pendragon crest. Don't judge his artistic abilities.

There was nothing ugly about Adora's drawing of her sword, complete with sparkling center jewel. Of course, it was pinker than it probably should have been after seeing the earlier examples.

Elle's was turning out kind of cute, she thought.

She was drawing a fat bow complete with shiny reflective details and pink was her favorite color so she couldn't help that it was pink.

There was nothing ugly about Harper's logo. It was really bright. She'd gotten into the glitter and sequins again.

Kenshin's artistic skills were hopeless.

Completely.

Though he thought he understood the 'logo' thing - it was kind of like a mon, right?

His attempts (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3525/3704939092_60cd59ac99.jpg?v=0) were crude at best.

Tybalt's logo was a pure testament to his artistic skills, really.

...

He'd drawn something vaguely resembling a crown, and then he scribbled lines through it to resemble claw-marks.

...

It was a work in progress.

...The sad part is, this (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3525/3704939092_60cd59ac99.jpg?v=0) is probably actually better than what Kenshin would draw. XD;
