Tara smiles a little sadly, but keeps the brightness in her voice. "I take it you've found someone, then?"

I have. [She blushes and looks down] I cna't believe I came here of all places to fall in love...[Sighs] It's the most perfect thing I've ever felt.

Well that's that, then "I guess we're all here for a reason," Tara smiles. "Maybe yours was to meet her."

[She smiles widely and a genuine laugh] Tara...I'm in love with the Doctor, and I assure you, he's not a girl at all.

Tara looks shocked at this, blurting out "have you told Shane?" before she could stop herself.

Shane? Shane knows...Shane's been a pillar of support for me.[looks confused]

Tara shakes her head. "I'm so confused. Shane told me you were dating... I mean, dating her."

Shane said WHAT?

[she looks like she may be physically ill]

Tara, you must be mistaken...Shane is like my daughter, and I'm a mother for her...that's just not something...I mean,I'm not even gay! And I'm certain Shane would never...with me...[she covers her mouth with her hand]

"Oh, CJ, I'm sorry!" Tara's hands flutter in front of her, helplessly. "I'm so sorry, I must have misunderstood. In the diner last night, we were flirting and then she said she was interested in taking one of my classes, and I said the teaacher/student thing changes the relationship and she said she didn't see why because she already had a close relationship with the teachers she was going to have next term, and she mentioned you, and she'd already told me she had a girlfriend, and I just put two and two together and got eleventeen, apparantly, and I am so humiliated..." Tara took a deep breath, flushing bright red and dropping her head so her hair covered her face. "I'm so sorry."

It's ok, it's just a misunderstanding. Shane and I do have a relationship--but it's not like that.

We're just...[she gets a very soft look in her eyes]...ok, well I do love her. But it's a different kind of love. She really is just like a daughter to me. I can't explain it better than that. She's...family.

"I shouldn't have assumed. I j-j-j-just... and then you said l-love works d-d-differently here, and..." Tara stops, utterly humiliated and quite unable to speak past her stutter.

Tara, it's ok...it's just a misunderstanding. [She walks over to Tara and wraps her arms around her] Don't be upset. No one's hurt. No lasting damage.

[She smiles at her] Shane's very special, and she's with Kate. I'm with Ten, and we're family. We work with what we have...understand?

Tara takes a few deep breaths, and nods. "Yeah. The family you choose is sometimes more precious than the family you were born with."

((and on that note, I'm retiring from the day from hell to get some sleep. We can either end it, or slow play into tomorrow. Tomorrow night I'll be up very late))
