Beach Play - Tuesday - Period 5

Marshall had asked the students to head to the Danger Shop today and when they got there they would notice that the beach was looking a bit different than usual. The waves were bit higher than the ones usually seen in Maryland and the water a bit bluer. There were boogie boards in the sand next to where Marshall was standing.

Guess what they were going to be doing today?

"Maryland isn't exactly the best place for surfing so we're going to go to the magical land of make believe today. Surfing is some of the most fun you get at the beach. Riding waves is exciting and getting knocked on your ass can be fun as long as you land in something soft...or watery. And watching people falling on their ass while trying to surf is fun for everyone." Save for the person falling, that is. "Now we're not going to actually be surfing today because I don't need any of you guys getting a surfboard in the fact and knocking your front teeth out. We're going for boogie boards because they are softer and easier to use."

"What you want to do is lay on the board in the water and wait for the beginnings of the wave to start up. Start swimming with the wave until it starts doing the moving for you. Then you ride it. Ride it long and hard and..." Marshall trailed off for a second. He hoped Lily was going to be home after class ended. "...uh...oh, right. You ride the wave until you fall face first into the sand and scrape up your knees. It's fun!"

Really. It was.

"So grab a board and go seek out those waves," Marshall said. "As always, try not to drown."

Marshall was so much happier than he was yesterday.

Hannibal didn't really listen to the lecture since he'd done this before and he had, in fact, had too much to drink last night.

Francine would be eying the boards with massive distrust while she listened. Not that she was especially afraid of getting knocked off one because wow was she buoyant, but yeah, she'd be skipping the concept of washing up front-first onto a sandy beach, thanks.

"...I don't believe this is for me," Merlin admitted to her seriously.

"I'm fine with the floating part," Francine said, wrapping her hands around her knees. "Face first in the sand doesn't sound fun."

"I'd end up floating out to sea."

Francine scowled at him. Sort of. "Um, no. Not allowed. Also no falling off the board and trying to drown just so you can get CPR."

"I would have to do all that for a kiss?" Merlin asked.

"No; that's why you're not allowed to drown. It's bad and a waste of effort." Francine paused, fairly sure that there was a protest she should be making here. Oh, yeah. "Not that CPR is kissing. It just kind of looks like kissing."

Oh, you're going to be sore later. Try not to scrape yourselves up too bad.

Hannibal grabbed a board and hit the waves, only wishing that this was real and he could stop thinking about other things and concentrate on real waves and real bodyboarding.

Oooooh! This was amazing! Edward hit the waves with the board and body surfed like a body surfing pro! It was fun and easy!

"You look like you're having fun," Eleanor said with a smile once he was back on shore.

"Ooh, hello!" he replied cheerfully, slinging wet hair back from his face. "Indeed yes! Are you?"

"It is an interesting activity," she agreed with a nod. "You probably don't recognize me as being the same kitten that was with Ellie during the fire drill."

His eyes lit up and he gasped. "You! Ah-hah, that is amazing! You were such an adorable kitten!"

"Thank you," she blushed a little. "You're Edward, correct?"

"Yes, Prince Edward of Andalasia, my lady," he replied kindly.

"Eleanor Robinson. Very pleased to meet you. I think we have the same homeland, though possibly from different times."

He blinked in surprise. "You are from Andalasia?"

"Uhm, no. I was thinking more of England. My mistake."

"But I am from Andalasia!" he repeated, thinking he had said it right the first time. "Beyond the meadows of joy and the valley of contentment!"

"Ah," she replied with a slow nod, wondering at his description. Meadows of joy? Valley of contentment? "It's likely that your home is a bit different than mine, even if they are similiar in name."

Not that she'd ever heard England called Andalasia before.

"Forgive me, Eleanor, but I see no similarity in name," he replied, seeming to be thinky over that. "None at all. Hmm. But no matter! We all come from different places and how lovely is that?"

Now she was a bit confused. Hadn't it seemed that he meant England was Andalasia? No matter.

"It is quite interesting. So many things are different here."

Adora had (as She-Ra) once turned her sword into a board when going to save a girl who she'd thought had been drowning at the time.

Today she would simply look hot in her swimwear and surf with the given board while hoping that no one required the CPR.

This actually sounded kind of fun, so Jaina wouldn't put up a fight about trying it.

Even if she fell off the board once. Shhhh.

Eleanor didn't surf so much as just float along the board. It was very relaxing that way.

Romeo gave boogie boarding a spin or two -- he hadn't done it since grade school -- before deciding his chest looked better not covered with seaweed and retreating to his TA towel to relax.

Jess was perfectly content to leave the surfing to the people with experience, and settled on the beach to watch everyone try not to drown.

He was there. And not body surfing. Please, like he was gonna scrape his nipples on the sand.

Oh man. I've got a hangover.

Dammit, that's it, I'm going to the beach this weekend. If I drown I blame you.
