My Life as a Buddy Movie | Period 2 | Wednesday | June 10

After sending out handwavy notice, Loki was leaning against a wall and waiting for his class to file into the Danger Shop today. If he looked exciting, well, he was. He hadn't been in this classroom yet and he was kind of really fucking excited about what he'd planned today. He was such a fucking natural.

"So," he started once everyone had arrived, "we've talked about a few ways to better work with someone else without snapping and stabbing another person. Almost all of that shit won't work if you can't master today's lesson and that's diplomacy."

Loki waited for a groan or something because he even he hated diplomacy.

"Yeah, yeah, I know some of you might be shaking your fucking heads because diplomacy fucking sucks, right? If someone doesn't wanna acquiesce to your powers, then they can fucking suck it, right? Hey, I agree. But I've seen diplomacy at work at the highest scale and it does work. I've had that proven to me many a time when all I wanted to do was whip out my sword and gain order by its edge."

Fuck, he missed that sword.

"Diplomacy, in the most general sense, is is the employment of tact to gain strategic advantage or to find mutually acceptable solutions to a common challenge. Most of the time, when you're being diplomatic, you're trying to achieve acceptable solutions in a non confrontational manner. That means no threatening someone with a punch to the face to get your way. This sort of thing becomes especially important when you're working with someone because it's going to build your relationship. Sure, you can threaten a partner but, after some time, they're either going to stand up to you or they're going to walk away. It happens in small situations, it happens in international situations. Countries that are ruled under strict dictatorships and that are forced to bend by the violent will of their dictator almost always attempt to overthrow that rule at some point in time. It just almost always fucking happens."

Didn't always work but Loki figured the trying was the important part.

"When you use diplomacy, use it fucking right. Don't use things like cowboy diplomacy where you tell someone 'you're either with us or against us' because that's an indirect fucking threat and it's going to piss people off," Loki said. "You give, the other person gives and everyone's fucking happy. Of course, diplomacy's not always going to fucking work. In a small situation, like when you're with a partner, that just means it'll erupt into an argument, a fight or angry hate sex. In large scale situations, it might mean the break off of peace talks, war, or a drop in public relations between two countries. It varies depending on how badly diplomacy is used."

Loki clapped his hands together and stepped in front of the students.

"For today's activity, we're going to be practicing diplomacy. Sort of. You're going to be pairing up and stepping into the lovely sumo ring we have here," he said, gesturing to danger shop. "And what you're going to try and be diplomatic about is which of you is better. You're going to have to come to an acceptable diplomatic solution on that topic between the two of you. Why are you in sumo suits? Because, if you don't come to an acceptable solution, you guys can duke it the fuck out. You're not going to hurt each other and it's fucking fun if anything."

He gestured to the suits and the ring and waited for the class to get started.

Jack's notes were brief:
Sumo suits = awesome

Hurley got into the ring, in his sumo suit. This was a little odd, heh.

Fiona didn't like the sumo suit, but she'd worn things that fit her less. She wasn't quite sure who she wanted to 'debate' with but it was obvious enough she was unsure of how to pursue the topic.

Jack was in the mood to duke it out. Pfft. Diplomacy shliplomacy, he was in a sumo suit!

Jon bounced around the ring in his suit. It was actually kind of fun.

Sumo suits. Lovely.

Effy was there, but less than impressed with this activity. They couldn't have done it without the extra padding? Ew.

Amber giggled. And she did not at all steal glances over at her fellow TA. Who had to sumo it up.

Hilllarious.

Yep, today was going to be funny as hell and she hoped they all had to duke it out. She almost wanted to stand up and shout: 'Screw diplomacy today!'

But as TA, that would probably be wrong.

Today was jelly filled donuts. Powdered jelly filled and glazed jelly filled. Only one was missing from the box this week. And there was a large cup of coffee as well.

"Ah, good for you. Garlic breath first thing in the morning, sucks. Not that I don't enjoy pizza for breakfast on occassion. But you know."

"We didn't cook anything today," said Daisy apologetically as she swung around after Loki's class as usual, "but you can have some granola if you want." She held out the little bag she was snacking from. "Dried fruits and nuts in it, too." Which would probably never match up to donuts, but maybe he'd give in if only because she tried looking especially cute while offering.

"It...is full of fiber," Daisy agreed, and that was all she was going to say. "But it's good. And good for you. And never mind, I'll just have it all to myself because it's not like you've really got to be concerned with things like that."
