Seven Secrets to Success - Period Five - Wednesday, 6/3
The room was set up as it had been the first day, with the tables and chairs like any other classroom. The singular difference, of course, was who was slouched rakishly against the teacher's desk.
His hair was a Pantene commercial waiting to happen.1
His golden flight uniform shimmered and shone like the light from the sun itself.2
His teeth held a whiteness that defined 'white', as day was day and night was night.3
A paragon of virtue, virility, and all the best the Space Corps had to offer stood before them, nostrils flared with pure animal magnetism. If sexual magnetism were a virus4, then baby, this was patient zero.
"The name's Ace," he said, his voice pure awesomeness translated into tone and frequency, "and as your... instructor seems to still be feeling the effects of his little rendezvous with holo-virus, I'll be covering the class today."
If you melted at the smile, well, you're in good company.
[ocd up!]

1 If was originally an Herbal Essences commercial, but due to the effect the sight of him naked in a shower had on the female extras (and crew), the footage had to be sold to a tasteful adult productions studio.
2At least seven primitive cultures on four different planets have mistaken Ace for the god of the sun during his travels. In these cultures, there was a documented 90% increase in female virgins willing to become a sacrifice to said god and a 95% increase in males willing to admit they were virgins to allow them to participate.
3Whiter than Chuck Norris's teeth. No. Really.
4It actually is.

The Lecture
"Some of you might recognize me from some of the Space Corps recruitment materials. If you don't, that's fine. Others of you might realize a certain resemblance to your professor."
He leaned against the desk.
"That would be because we are in fact the same person from different timelines. The reason I share this with you is because it pertains to the lessons I have to impart to you today.
"Never be afraid of setbacks," he said carefully, looking around the room.
"If I hadn't been held back a year from school, I would have ended up the cowardly, whinging little weasel that you know. Instead, I ended up being the tallest person in class by a foot and it gave me, well, it gave me perspective. It toughened me up, let me look at who I was and what I wanted from life honestly. I can honestly say that that one year in school made me the man I am today."
And what a man he was. Rawr.
"The other lesson is simpler: be fearless. Doing what others are too afraid to do, being who others are too afraid to be, it's the only way to go higher, fly faster, go further. Never fear failure. The only thing you should fear is the regrets that come from never having tried."
Yes, he believed every word. And yes, he desperately wanted them to believe too. He might have met them only a few moments before, but he genuinely and honestly cared for these children. He wanted to see them do well, wanted to see them soar with the eagles.
"I don't believe in long classes. Life is the best class of all and it'll teach you more than any instructor. Feel free to stay and chat if you'd like; I could tell you a few stories from my time as a test pilot, or about some of the amazing places I've been. Otherwise, feel free to leave."
And he threw off a heartfelt salute.

Ace
He would tell you quite plainly that he didn't sleep with students, but he was around.
