Detention, Danger Shop and Beyond, 8 AM till 2 PM

"Morning," Mitchell greeted; he was starting to look less like he'd been on a bender the longer he was staying off the blood, and so this morning he actually looked fairly fit and chipper for the job. "You're all here because you've misbehaved, and the school's appointed me for your punishment. I'm Mitchell." Beat. "Don't call me professor. It makes me feel old."

He left the sign-in sheet on the desk at the front of the class.

"Today, we're putting you all to work," he said, "We've got a lot of dead alligators out there, so I hope you know how to get out some bloodstains. Then we'll come back around to the Danger Shop for lunch and you'll hear the rest of it."

Mitchell grinned at the class. "We'll have proper detention." It was possible that, for all his heartfelt dedication to the job of being human, he wasn't, in fact, all that good at it.

"Oh, and let me know if you're squeamish."

Mitchell used to clean at a hospital. He had different ideas about disgusting.

Mitchell did not deal with a lot of heroic people. Most of them wound up shot prematurely.

"Just be careful about it."

Zack probably wasn't going to end up breaking that track record, really.

"Of course! Careful is what I do!"

You could totally tell by the way he was spilling his coffee as he wiggled in place on the couch.

That poor couch. Somewhere, George was crying on the inside.

"Yeah?" Mitchell asked, with a slight grin that tended towards the 'errr', "Then how do you feel about coffee burn?"

"Coffee burn?" Zack blinked down at himself. His gloved hands were dripping in the stuff.

Oops. Uh.

"Stuff like that doesn't bother me too much, really. It's the same way with cold. It hurts if there's too much of it, sure, but it's not as extreme as it could be to somebody else."

Cue the puppy, setting down his glass and attempting to wring some of the coffee out of his glove. He got hit with fireballs on a regular basis in his line of work. A little spilled java was no big deal at all. Oh, wacky genetic enhancements.

Zack certainly didn't smell too different from normal people. Maybe too was the operative word in that sentence, though, and when Mitchell raised his cup back to his mouth, the cheer faltered for all of a split second.

"That's genetics for you, right?" he said (not aware of the irony of that statement) and put his cup down.

"That's genetics," Zack agreed easily. Hey, he certainly didn't object to the mako enhancements and whatever else ShinRa had done to him to get him into the SOLDIER program.

And they had given him pretty blue eyes.

For now, don't mind him too much if he starts trying to suck his coffee out of his glove.

It was disturbing what you got used to in terms of puppy-like behavior when you spent a month living with a werewolf, so Mitchell nodded along, and merely added a good-natured, "Try not to shred any of those," as he digested and considered everything.
