"Capes!" Edna snapped as she stalked into the Danger Shop. "There will be no capes in this class. Capes get snagged on missiles and sucked into vortexes and pulled into jet engines! Almost as bad as capes are shoddy materials such as polyester blends and leggings as pants or jeans under dresses! If your legs are that hideous, wear a pantsuit. It is not that difficult. Peh. Today you will present your designs to the class--you have ten minutes to erase any capes--and after we have decided what needs to be changed, you will beginning making your costumes! Next week, we will try them on and decide what needs to be changed."

Edna pulled up a chair and pointed to a student at random. "You. Begin."

Wonder what the deal is with capes, panic and fixes your sketches, etc.

Either with a link or with enough description to give people something to critique.

People? Critique! Say something's too pink! The lines are unflattering! It needs more sparkles! Whatever!

There are scissors and mannequins and Very Scary Sewing Machines. Edna will be wandering around to give you measurements from last week and to answer any questions you might have.

The fabric is not the good stuff yet, so if you make a mistake, don't sweat it.

Dinah's (http://pics.livejournal.com/blondecanary/pic/0000qxa9) sketches (http://pics.livejournal.com/blondecanary/pic/0000tc6e) owe a lot to Photoshop and searching for pictures of superheroines online. Hey, at least they have yellow in them, like they're supposed to.

Fiona looked down at her sketch and bit at her lip, somewhat nervous. She'd tried to do what her research said should work but it was still a bit more utilitarian than a lot of what she'd found.

But no capes, at least.

Fiona's sketch (http://i40.tinypic.com/w6yqlj.png) was, she hoped, at least passable. She'd added her symbol on the belt as an afterthought but she wasn't married to it or anything.

Claudia's sketch was bright, formfitting, and red (http://www.milanoo.com/upload/products/2009/200901/20090114023717_2_F420.jpg). Very, very red. She'd added a stylized butterfly to the front of it and was thinking of adding more glitter.

"Why does your costume have only one arm covered?" Edna asked.

Edna tapped her pen against her lips. "I think maybe the costume with the pants," she said. "Less waxing, darling."

Dinah stared at the sketch, eyes wide. "Whoa. Um. Good call. I didn't even think of that." She cleared her throat and flipped back to the other, nodding carefully, and wondering if Wonder Woman waxed? "Maybe some superheroines have no body hair at all?"

*cracks up at her very on-target critique*

"I've certainly never asked," Edna replied.
