Journalism Class - Thursday October 13

Spider is sitting at his desk, watching the cat with morbid fascination as it brings him another frog. There are four of them on the desk already and judging by the noises created as it dives beneath one of the student desks, there will shortly be five. Distracted by the advent of his students, he waves a hand at them.

"As you know, Parent's Weekend is coming up. I've been informed that it's customary to have something to show your parents when they show up so that they're under the continued, mistaken impression that the money they're paying for your enrollment is actually being put to good use. Today I want to hear suggestions as to what sort of project the Journalism students could do in order to impress their collective parents, guardians, parole officers or 'other' when they arrive." Spider smiled maliciously at his students.

Rising to his feet, he went to the back of the classroom and leaned over the velvet rope separating the Newspaper section from the rest of the room and filled a cup with coffee. "Now, along those same lines, later today I'll be posting next week's homework assignment. As previously stated, this will be group projects and will require photographs. I'm thinking of groups of no more than four, unless we end up with an odd number, and I will," his eyes glinted as he looked over the top of his glasses, "fail anyone who does not contribute to the efforts of the group. Start working on your cooperation skills, kids. Your grade may depend on it."

*grumbles and slumps further down in her seat*

*comes in, and puts a small case of cigars on Jerusalems desk, grins at him, then goes to sit by George*

Rory perks up slightly when the part about working in groups is mentioned.

Jake leans back and wonders absently whether Chihaya and D are available.

John enters the room, thinking of suggestions and the group work assignment.

Phoebe shows up and sits in her regular spot near Spider. She flips open the roster she's been keeping track of and starts taking attendance. Her hair is pulled into a ponytail and she looks tired. After she takes attendance, she focuses on the instructions he's giving the class.

She looks around to see who hasn't formed a group of four yet.

Buffy sits in the back of the classroom and frowns at the concept of Parents Weekend. Her mom really doesn't need to come here.

Chloe makes a quiet grumbling noise at the idea of working in a group. But, she figures she should be able to find three other people who will actually put in an effort.

*is distracted by the concept of 'parents'*

More than exhaustion lines Beka's face when she approaches Spider's desk. She doesn't say anything, just flips a pack of cigarettes on his desk.

After Bio.

Maia watches the recording from her desk still slightly ill from tbe trip to the body farm.

D'anna takes a seat in the back, away from the main cluster. She's cradling a cup of coffee and scowls when she hears the assignment for the day. She quietly groans to herself. She's not sure if her teachers are individually sadistic, or if they've formed a special "Thursdays (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/217013.html) are for ~~Torture~~ Group Work" ~~cabal~~ club.

Dropping into a seat, Krycek arched an eyebrow at the thought of someone coming for him. And a group of four? He looked around the room thoughtfully.

Rogue, having been on the Bio/Soc field trip, and missing class on Wednesday for an unspecified reason, found Phoebe and watched the recording of the class. "Crap, group work?" She sighs. "Well, we could put together a short newsletter of what we've done so far this semester, spinnin' it so we don't sound like a bunch of loonies."

After scoping out the classroom and noting the conspirators and the necessary parties all present, Beka approaches Jake. "Time to pay the piper, pal. Told you that column would up our circulation. You know what you have to do."

(ooc: Hm, computer crashed yesterday--hence the not-on-ness of yesterday. But it's all good now. I'm amazed I still have my bewuved Firefox ^.^)

"Well, I don't actually know who my parents are, and my guardian's out on some business for some politician, but whatever."

She looks around for potential group members.

Jack takes a seat and looks around to see who hasn't grouped up yet.
