Art of Seduction [Wednesday, Period Four]

Today's class was being held in the Dangershop, which was set up to look like a combination upscale boutique/dressing room.

"I'm assuming that your successful flirting has secured you a date," Bond began. "Which brings us to the next important step, which is getting ready for your date. So today you'll all be getting a makeover." Just as Bond said the word 'makeover' music started playing, the only sign that he hadn't actually programmed it to was a slight frown.

"There are two things to remember when you're selecting an outfit for a date, or any other occasion for that matter, one is to choose an appropriate outfit for what you're doing. You'll look as ridiculous wearing a dinner suit bowling as you would wearing jeans to the opera, and in any case, trousers are your friend. I've included some examples of bad outfit choices in your handouts today.

"The second things is that once you've chosen your outfit. Wear it. Wear the hell out of it. Because confidence shows, and even if you have been struck by a tragic case of fashion blindness, if you have the right attitude, you'll still look great."

"Now, I want you to spilt up into pairs and help each other with your makeovers." The music started playing again, but Bond continued undeterred "I'd like you to try to come up with at least one formal and one casual outfit, and those of you who feel up to it can model their outfits for the rest of the class at the end."

She was looking and came across a couple choices (http://gofugyourself.celebuzz.com/go_fug_yourself/cat_1381/) but she wasn't sure they were for her. Maybe the black one. Hm. It was a bit revealing on the sides.

Helen wasn't sure about this whole makeover business. Hands of Uquar wore black. Only black. With maybe a little white on occasion.

She nodded at the other girl. "Want a partner? I warn you, though. I'm quite clueless."

"Yes, thank you," she replied, smiling. "And I am as well. I think." She liked to think she knew about fashion, but she really didn't. She just liked to wear what she liked to wear, which had always been different from anyone else.

"Perhaps... perhaps this (http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/10th+Anniversary+Party+Flaunt+Magazine+YBoS-bvMf82l.jpg) for casual?" Helen suggested. "Though I do not like the shoes."

Penelope nodded, smiling but the link doesn't work! :(. "I'm not certain for myself. It's very hard to choose."

Huh... it works everywhere I try it... Weird.

"I'm never sure," Helen admitted.

"I'm usually very... modest."

Helen considered this then pointed to a few outfits that were more along the classic yet covered up look. And black.

What?

"Oh. Yes. Black. Hmm," she said, smiling, but still 'hmm'ing'.

"I don't know about black. I've never really worn it."

Helen looked down at herself. "It's all I wear."

"Would you care to try a bit of color?" she asked, tentatively.

"The hands of Uquar do not wear color," she said firmly. But she was looking at some of the outfits a little wistfully.

Emma found a few different options for different types of dates.

And if most of them were in whites or pale colors, well, she knew what she looked good in.

"Do you have something against color?" Jenny asked her. "Are you trying to do the Angelina Jolie thing in reverse?"

"This is a rosy pink," Emma objected, holding up the dress. "Darker colors make me look sallow."

"I do look fantastic in black, but that seems so over-dramatic for a date."

"Uh-huh." Jenny did not look convinced. She held up a red dress, considered it, and put it back. She already had a much better red dress. "Black isn't a color either. Don't get me wrong, I have a penchant for white myself. I just find that if you wear too much of it people mistake you for pure."
icecoldfrost: (I have a hat)

"They can mistake me for whatever they like," Emma replied with a shrug. "Or maybe I am a pure and pretty pretty princess."

Yeah. Right.

"You see anything that would suit me better?" She wandered over to flip through the racks again, making a face. "I'm just always afraid that bright colors make me look three days dead."

Jenny would suggest a tan, but Jenny was possessed of the sort of complexion one could expect of an upper-crust Brit-slash-natural blonde, and therefore really could not throw stones in that regard. "Well, if black is all right, how about something in the dark or jewel family? Is purple still in? I lose track of these things."
icecoldfrost: (Emma is thinking)

"I think purple is in," she said, holding up a dress. "Is this purple or burgundy? Or some mutant child of the two?"

"I think it's burgundy," Jenny said. "I have a dress a bit like that. More on the scarlet side. The darker color will set off your fairness more." Or something like that. "It's dramatic, see."
icecoldfrost: (I know something you don't know)

"So great minds think alike?" Emma joked. "I'm going to need to start reading fashion magazines to keep up with the trends; I never thought I'd miss New York."

[personal profile] ashockingbitch 2009-05-28 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Stunning blondes must stick together," Jenny said. "Or catfight, but I think that would amuse the boys too much. If half the things we get into the shop are any indication, the trend is 'things that look stupid.'"
icecoldfrost: (Sneaky Emma)

Re: Makeover, Makeover - Seduction [Week 3]

[personal profile] icecoldfrost 2009-05-28 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"If it's a catfight, I demand a mud pit," Emma replied. "Simply so we can shove everyone else in."

"And if the trend is 'looking stupid,' then I think we have an obligation as attractive people to change it." She continued flicking through the items on the rack, making a face. "Do you give the tacky things in your store to the homeless to make it Go Away, or do people actually buy it?"

Morgana found one outfit that looked strangely enticing, until she realized there wasn't much (http://katie-mcgrath.com/gallery/albums/Photoshoots/Shoot6/km1.png) to it. Luckily, there was a plain-colored dress (http://katie-mcgrath.com/gallery/albums/Events/IFTA%202009/002.jpg) that looked like it would be a rather nice fit.
