Of course a class on beach play would be held at the beach. You'd be silly to think otherwise.

It was a nice day out and Marshall was standing out near the water in his swimming trunks and a t-shirt, waiting for everyone to gather around him. There were blankets set out for people to sit on and a basket filled with towels and sunblock for everybody. There was also a box filled with spare (and brand new, holy god he wasn't gross) bathing suits and trunks just in case people forgot or didn't own swimsuits of their own. When it seemed like everyone was there, Marshall started to speak.

"Hi there, I'm Marshall Eriksen and this is Beach Play. It's pretty much what it sounds like. We're going to focus on a different game or activity to do at the beach every week and, hopefully you'll have fun doing it. There's not much learning involved here but it's summer and learning should be banned from this season anyway." What a good teacher. "On nice days like today we'll meet here at the beach and on less-than-nice days we'll meet in the Danger Shop. Please wear your bathing suits each week and for the love of god, don't forget to put on sunblock. I'm giving you each a bottle of your own. I don't want to deal with lobster students. Unless they're like mutant lobster students with claws and stuff. Then that'd be pretty cool."

Marshall paused while he wondered if human-lobster hybrids would taste as good as regular lobster did.

"Anywaaaaaaaays today we'll be doing the more obvious of beach activities: swimming. I hate it when people are at the beach and don't swim. Seriously, get in the damn water. We know it's cold at first but you get used to it," Marshall said. God, that was annoying. "Swimming's just plain fun and good exercise. It's also fun to splash people and get into races and stuff. So go ahead and get in the water and have fun. Hopefully you all know how to swim. If you don't, well, either you're gonna get a lesson from me or you can hang in the shallower parts."

Marshall hoped he wouldn't have to teach anyone how to swim. The Eriksen way was to just toss someone in the deep end and hope they figure it out before they drown. It was out of love, really.

"Oh, and your TA's are Jess and Romeo," Marshall said, pointing to each boy in turn. "They're around to answer any questions, to get a nice tan and to make sure none of you drown. So I'd stay on their good sides if you want them to save you."

Another pause.

"...that last bit was a joke. They'll save you even if you suck."

"Of course! I have nothing planned. Which reminds me - I need advice, Priest."

"That's what I'm hear for, man, what's up?"

"I am not certain what to do with Adora. Where to take her to make her feel special. I'm not certain I know how to be a boyfriend. I should just like to get married." In the morning.

"Yeah, but if you marry her you're stuck with her. So you wanna make sure you know each other real well." They'd been over this. "Just . . . do the stuff you like to do, anyway. Or ask her if she wants to do that stuff with you, don't just assume she will."

He raised his brows. "Ah, like swordplay, perhaps?"

"Exactly. For all you know, Adora's actually got some skill, there."

He knew She-Ra possibly did, so it could very well be likely.

"I will ask. And of course she has Spirit so we could enjoy a lovely jaunt and perhaps a picnic." A beat. "...girls enjoy picnic, do you think?" A beat. "Perhaps just to sit around the campfire?"

"Why not do both? And, uh, yeah, she'll probably enjoy a picnic."

"Of course. Both." He was being thinky. It almost hurt.

"And how is your girlfriend?"

Priestly lay back on the water and let himself float for a bit, grinning like the ginormous dork he really was. "Great. Did you see her hat at the picnic? Thing was huge!"

"I'm sad to say, I missed it. Huge as in, larger than her head?" Edward too, lay back upon the water.

"Huge as in larger than, like, three people's heads. It was like four feet wide."

"Amazing!" he exclaimed. "Was she protecting herself from the sun?"

"If she was, that was just a side-effect. She wanted to make sure her little sib could find her."

"Brilliant idea!"

"Heck yeah. S'totally why I wore my kilt."

It totally wasn't why he wore his kilt.

"And why I wore my cape!"

It totally wasn't. He wore his cape all the time.

"Who'd you get, anyway?"

"The lovely lady Elspeth," he said, blinking water from his eyes. "She's very polite and soft spoken. Have you met her?"

"Not yet. I haven't actually met that many of the newbies. She sounds nicer than mine, though. Esmeralda did not approve of my kilt."

"Perhaps she thought it not proper to see a man's legs?" he asked.

"Well, she's gonna have to get used to that, around here."

"She certainly will," he decided. "She wasn't rude to you?"

"Eh, it was probably culture shock."

"I'm certain she will adjust. I believe my roommate, when we arrive back in the dorms, is going to undress in front of me."
