Of course a class on beach play would be held at the beach. You'd be silly to think otherwise.

It was a nice day out and Marshall was standing out near the water in his swimming trunks and a t-shirt, waiting for everyone to gather around him. There were blankets set out for people to sit on and a basket filled with towels and sunblock for everybody. There was also a box filled with spare (and brand new, holy god he wasn't gross) bathing suits and trunks just in case people forgot or didn't own swimsuits of their own. When it seemed like everyone was there, Marshall started to speak.

"Hi there, I'm Marshall Eriksen and this is Beach Play. It's pretty much what it sounds like. We're going to focus on a different game or activity to do at the beach every week and, hopefully you'll have fun doing it. There's not much learning involved here but it's summer and learning should be banned from this season anyway." What a good teacher. "On nice days like today we'll meet here at the beach and on less-than-nice days we'll meet in the Danger Shop. Please wear your bathing suits each week and for the love of god, don't forget to put on sunblock. I'm giving you each a bottle of your own. I don't want to deal with lobster students. Unless they're like mutant lobster students with claws and stuff. Then that'd be pretty cool."

Marshall paused while he wondered if human-lobster hybrids would taste as good as regular lobster did.

"Anywaaaaaaaays today we'll be doing the more obvious of beach activities: swimming. I hate it when people are at the beach and don't swim. Seriously, get in the damn water. We know it's cold at first but you get used to it," Marshall said. God, that was annoying. "Swimming's just plain fun and good exercise. It's also fun to splash people and get into races and stuff. So go ahead and get in the water and have fun. Hopefully you all know how to swim. If you don't, well, either you're gonna get a lesson from me or you can hang in the shallower parts."

Marshall hoped he wouldn't have to teach anyone how to swim. The Eriksen way was to just toss someone in the deep end and hope they figure it out before they drown. It was out of love, really.

"Oh, and your TA's are Jess and Romeo," Marshall said, pointing to each boy in turn. "They're around to answer any questions, to get a nice tan and to make sure none of you drown. So I'd stay on their good sides if you want them to save you."

Another pause.

"...that last bit was a joke. They'll save you even if you suck."

Francine was listening! Really! She was just also putting on lots of sunscreen. And giving certain other people a Look, just in case they forgot what a really brilliant idea that was.

Priestly was also slathering on the sunscreen. "Need a hand getting your back?"

Startled for a moment, Francine looked over then smiled. "I think I may have a volunteer for that already," she said, glancing at Merlin ~~who was stuck at work dammit~~.

Priestly followed her glance. "Ahhhhh. Sorry, hadn't noticed he was in the class, yet."

"How could you miss him?" Francine asked, not without reason. "You need sunglasses to avoid getting blinded from the paleness."

"I guess I hadn't really looked." Priestly grinned and shrugged. "But, hey, maybe that blinding paleness will fade, with this class."

"That'd be nice," Francine said. "Though if I have to choose between pale and parboiled like he managed to do when we were on the cruise, I'm voting for pale."

"Ooo, yeah, lobster's not a good look."

"Neither is covered in calamine lotion while your boss and your girlfriend both roll their eyes at you because they told you so."

He was putting some on! Honestly, now...

"You're giving me a look."

"A look like I'm not into dating seafood so you better not look like a boiled lobster in an hour?" Francine suggested. Oh heck, why not throw in a little truth in communication to make up for yesterday. "Or a look like I've never seen you without a shirt when you didn't look like a boiled lobster?"

Merlin rolled he eyes and offered the lotion to her. "You can get my back if you're so worried."

"Well, it's a sacrifice," she said, taking the bottle and scooting over beside him. "But for the reputation of lobsters everywhere..."

"For their honor," Merlin agreed, glancing over at her with a grin.

"Well, you're too tall," she explained, squirting some lotion into the palm of her hand in a way that was only dirty-looking if you were any other human in the universe. "If people think you're one of them, the rest of the lobsters will feel all short and inadequate in comparison."

"I could never be that cruel to the poor things." Bug things. Eeeew.

Tasty, tasty bug things. With butter. "Exactly." And then there were hands. In, well, new places, yes, but not New Places, and certainly not NEW PLACES. This was class, after all, beach or no.

Hannibal could definitely deal with a class like this. Definitely. He listened to Marshall while enjoying the beach.

Adora hoped that Jess and Romeo would take their life saving seriously or she'd be forced to run for the treeline to transform.

And hopefully there would be no accidental interruptions like in the waters of Spring Break. Ahem.

The beach! Ah-hah, but this was going to be an excellent class!

He began rubbing lots of sunscreen into his skin.

Apparently Tuesdays were going to be Jaina's slightly bizarre class day. At least she could turn swimming into something training like.

She really was that sad, yes.

Now this? Was a class she was going to love! Maron listened as she applied sunscreen and grinned.

Alex paid attention, putting on the sunscreen with a big smile.

Swimming Eleanor could deal with, if she knew how that was. She didn't have a swimsuit however, so wandered over to check out what was available.

...and was staring at the contents of the box with her mouth hanging slightly open.
