Flight Club [Flight Shed]

It was the last club meeting of the semester. And probably of Gavin's time here. He wasn't sentimental. Really. Instead, he made sure to bring a lot of snacks and drinks for the club members to eat and drink.

"Welcome back," he greeted, nodding. "This our last meeting of the semester so I thought I'd let you guys do what you'd like. Fly the sim, talk, study, whatever. It's been fun and I thank you all for coming out and learning with me. I probably won't see you back here when the club starts up again so I wish you luck and be safe. And those who will still be around, don't let this club go away. It's a mainstay."

Or something.

"Anyway. Have some food, go flying, relax. Thanks again."

"Who's going to sympathize about being from an Outer Rim rock with me after this?" Tahiri asked as she headed Gavin's way, pretending to look all broken up about it.

She was, a little bit, actually.

"Come on, one of us leaves, another has to show up," Gavin said. "Seems to happen that way."

"To add to the confusion," Tahiri said lightly. "But it won't be the same."

"Well, I'm not gonna be totally gone," Gavin pointed out. "I'll come back when I can. Homecoming and stuff. Can't be rid of me that easily."

"Maybe by then I won't need to wear these stupid boots to reach the foot yokes." Tahiri held up said stupid boots and grimaced. "What are you going to do when you get home?"

"I'm not going back right away," Gavin told her. "Making a stop by a friend's world to do some diplomatic things before heading back. And then, back into an X-Wing."

"That part doesn't surprise me," Tahiri remarked. "Are you looking forward to it? Wait, that's a dumb question, isn't it?"

"It's not and I am," he laughed. "Haven't flown in awhile. Might need a refresher course or something like that. Break out the manual while I'm flying."

"You? Forget how to fly?" she scoffed. "Rontos will turn cute and fluffy before that happens."

"I could have a major brain malfunction!" he said. "Lose all that knowledge and be left with the ability to be a moisture farmer or something."

"It's the only other thing to do on Tatooine unless you like being an outlaw anyway," Tahiri deadpanned. "That'd be awful. No brain malfunctions for you. I'd offer to put in a word for you with my tribe if you decided you wanted to run off and become one of the Sand People, but Sliven's dead and I don't think whoever's the leader would take it too well now."

"I'd suck as as sand person," Gavin said, wincing. "I'd be the one not wanting to go out into the sand because the sand gets into my boots or something. I'd be the one that stays in the settlement and like guards the door."

Tahiri laughed. "Yeah, it wasn't the life for me either. And you belong in an X-Wing. It wouldn't be right otherwise."

"I think so too," Gavin agreed. "But hey, if I need a fall back, I'll definitely go with being a sand person before a moisture farmer. It'd be a little more exciting."

"But very, very quiet," Tahiri pointed out. "Or you could always just pick another planet to live on."

"...that would be a good choice, wouldn't it?" he agreed. "Hey, if anything, I can probably come back here."

"And do what?" Tahiri wondered. "I mean, not that I'd be complaining."

"Be a candy maker!" Because those jobs were so prevalent.

"So next year, if we get invaded by kids again, we can all get mad at you for getting them crazy on sugar?" she teased. "I'm sorry I didn't meet your kid now, by the way."

"You should actually probably feel glad about that," Gavin laughed. "Hubert was...interesting."

"Jaina said you won him in a card game?" Tahiri asked, grinning just a bit.

"Blackjack apparently," Gavin said. "I...didn't know you could win kids that way but there you go."

"I'm pretty sure you can win anything in a card game somewhere in the universe." Tahiri paused. "Or anybody. What was he like?"

"He was a little jackass," Gavin said.

"Who was blaming that on who?" She had to know now.
