Angela looks at Parker with some sympathy. "Oh, do you have to give up drinking and smoking? Fun."

"And yeah, Saturday should be good. Do you think Zero would want to help out, or do you know..." she flounders for a second "where the thing is?"

"Drinking, at least for a couple weeks, yeah. I'm not a heavy drinker anyway, but it does take the fun out of partying." Parker takes her lollipop out of her mouth and glares at it. "I'm going to the gym later. Hopefully beating up on a bag will keep me from killing anyone else."

"I think Zero will want to help, and... I have an idea. But we need to check on the thing." Parker smiles sweetly at Crichton. "Yeah."

"When you smile at me like that, I just wanna marry you."

"You're so fickle. First you want the ring back, then you want the ring and the Maui estate, now the wedding's on again." Parker rolls her eyes. "Dear E.Jean: he *says* he loves me, but he won't set a date. If I kidnap him to Vegas, do you think he'll do the right thing?"

John waves a hand at her and laughs. "I'm serious this time. We can totally head off to Reno and get hitched in a chapel. It'll be a beautiful, beautiful thing. I'll even wear a suit."

"Oh, joy. Rapture. My every dream fulfilled. Take me to Reno, you big hunk of a boy-thing, you," Parker deadpans.

Angela nods. "I don't drink a lot either -- I had a friend who OD'd, and it kind of took some of the fun out of the whole thing. But yeah, I'd miss it for parties."

She glances over at Marty. "Sounds good on the ... other thing. We'll talk Friday to line everything up." Then she echoes Parker's weet smile.

Parker grimaces. "Thank god no one's done *that* yet. Although I suppose it's just a matter of time."

"Friday it is." Parker grins.

Angela blanches. "I hope it doesn't happen here," she says softly. "I mean, House would know what to do, but ... I still wouldn't wish it on anyone, you know?"

"Though I think it put me off drinking more than it did the girl who actually OD'd."

"The wrong people always learn the right lessons," Parker says, shaking her head. "And, yeah. So far, no one I know has done that. Kind of amazing, when you consider the drinking that goes on here."

Angela considers this. "Maybe people here just know their limits. Plus, my friend -- it wasn't just drinking, though she did a lot of it. She had Ecstasy, too, and I haven't even seen pot here."

She smiles, grimly. "Drug-free school zone, right?"

"And so far I haven't seen signs that anyone's got a drinking problem," Parker adds, then she winces. "There's... pot, or some variation around. But that doesn't have to be any worse than drinking. If you can handle it. Everything else, around here-- is asking to get eaten by a locker while you're tripping out."

"Really," Angela says. "Hmmm."

"I haven't smoked in months," she says, lowering her voice. "My ex did it, and I did it when he offered, you know? Which, like, wasn't often, because he never had any money anyhow, and..." her voice trails off. "I definitely agree that anything stronger would be a really bad idea here."

"It's a stupid habit. And I was stupid enough to indulge last night." Parker rubs her neck. "Behold the beauty that is me: caffiene and nicotine jitters, plus MJ hangover. Thrace had some intergalactic weed, and it's got bite. I'm sure it's not illegal here, but I'd be careful of it." She tilts her head. "Your ex, hunh?"

"Intergalactic weed. That's another new thing for me here."

She plays with her hair, trying to think of how to explain Jordan. "And yeah, my ... I call him my ex, but you know how sometimes you're seeing someone but the whole idea of boyfriend-girlfriend freaks him out, so you just kind of don't mention it? That was our story." She blushes. "He was really cute, though."

Parker laughs. "They always are. Otherwise they wouldn't get anyone to put up with that kind of crap." She shakes her head. "I only had two boyfriends before here. Tony and I broke up because I moved back to the U.S., and Giuseppe and I broke up for... other reasons. But at least it was clear-cut."

"Jordan was my first real boyfriend, I guess. We never managed to do the clear-cut thing," Angela says. She shrugs. "We broke up twice, once because -- god, this makes him sound way worse than he actually was, but it was kind of because I wouldn't sleep with him -- and then the second time we just drifted apart. I hadn't really dated anyone between then and Marty. I was thinking of becoming a nun."

Parker cocks an eyebrow at the 'wouldn't sleep with him,' and nods, then shudders at mention of nuns. "Dear God no. You don't want to be a nun. Some nuns are cool, but they all have to put up with too much crap and I have no idea how they can possibly get enough out of it." She thinks about all this, and says, "Sooo... Marty's your first *real* boyfriend. That's gotta be -- complicated."

Angela rolls her eyes. "I know. And to think my parents sent me here to get me away from bad influences."

She glances over to where Marty is talking to Rory, and smiles a little. "He's a realy nice guy, though. Just ... his past is his past, right? I'm trying to make myself leave it there."

Angela laughs, a little, realizing something. "So am I, like, talking boys with Miss Parker? Because it's fun, but ... weird."

"I'm here because the nuns didn't love me enough." Parker's mouth quirks evilly.

Parker looks over at Blank, and cocks an eyebrow. "I don't know him well, but I will say that he cares about you. And-- I've known a few guys like him." She looks uncomfortable. "Some of them make it out. Maybe he's one of the lucky ones."

Then at talking boys with Miss Parker, her mouth dropped open as she stared at Angela, aghast. "Aaaaah! How the hell did this happen? We were talking about drinking! Drugs! It was a nicely corrupt conversation!" She points at Angela accusingly. "Your fault, I'm sure it's your fault."

Angela is curious how Parker has known guys like Marty, but decides not to ask. She doesn't think she really wants to know. "I hope he does really make it out. He's young, anyhow, so that might help. And I do believe we're good together, whatever that means, she says, dropping her eyes to her desk.

She grins a little evilly herself at the accusing finger. "Sure, blame me." She thinks back. "Okay, I was the one who brought up Jordan. But you asked me about him. So it's both our fault."

"What's going on with that guy you went to homecoming with, anyhow?"

Parker growls. "I still say it's on you. Ha. But we can move on, be mature."

"Michael?" Parker sucks on her lollipop, looking thoughtful. "We're not sure yet. We're working on it. I like him. He likes me. More than that?" She shrugs. "Who can say? He was cool with me after the whole stupid Say Anything mess, so he gets bonus points for that. And... we have things in common. I don't think either of us is looking for happily ever after."

Angela smiles, a little wistful. "That sounds like it doesn't suck. I want to believe in happily ever after. but..." She shakes her head. "It seems like most couples, however perfect they look, things just fall apart? So maybe it's better to know it might happen going in."

"We're not even in our twenties, yet. Do you know the stats on teenage love affairs? Worse than the ones on teenage drinking. I'd say 'things fall apart' is a given." Parker smiles, though. "Ideals are sweet, but happily ever after... Is good for some people, I'm sure. It's not reality, though." She widens her eyes. "But hey. You and Blank probably have as good a chance as anyone. You can be that 10% that makes it, I guess."

Angela shrugs. "We might. And if it happens, it would be amazing. But I've only known him a month, and it's been such a weird month that I really can't think about long-term stability yet. I mean ... predictability is not his middle name."

She glances to where Marty and Rory are deep in conversation. "I'm not usually this cynical. I think seeing all the couples declare each other soulmates after five minutes is bringing it out in me."
