Flight Club [Flight Shed]

With food and snacks set out, Gavin was back by the flight shed, waiting for the rest of the club to show up. And, while he was waiting, he was eating some of the snacks. Food was food and teenage boy were unable to resist food.

"Hey guys, welcome back," he greeted, nodding to everyone. "Hope you all had fun with your paper airplanes because we're doing that again."

Pause.

"No, kidding. I wouldn't keep you out of the flight sim for two weeks in a row. Today, we're going to do something a little different. Instead of small fighter crafts, you're going to be the captain of a large ship. You will have control of several fighters, a horde of weapons and a cadre of soldiers. The scenario will be...revealed to you in the sim. Have fun."

Gavin smiled and opened the flight sim's door.

John spotted the hooded kid and made his way over. "Look who's back. Hey, don't let me forget to give you the footage of the best gremlin bite since...oh the Pussycat Dolls." John like that memory a lot.

"...huh?" was Ben's very intelligent reply.

Poor Ben getting assaulted with insane his first day back. "Your girl -- I mean your friend and Jaina thought they were bears who loved hugging people and bringing joy to all."

There was a lot of staring.

Finally: "Jaina. And Tahiri? Really?"

John grinned and nodded. "They really do bring a lot of joy."

Ben didn't smile back, but it was a near thing. "And you have footage."

"And I have footage," he repeated, noting Ben's lack of smile. "You doin' okay or is this one of those things I shouldn't ask?"

Ben snuck looks toward Jaina and Tahiri. "Bad trip," he said shortly.

John nodded, frowning a little because he knew a bad trip for Jedi meant a whole different thing than a bad trip for normal people. "In that case, if there's anything needs talking, I'm around." And discreet, but Ben probably knew that already. "Otherwise I can provide an endless loop of Jaina doing the Care Bear stare."

"I'm fine," Ben lied convincingly. "What's a Care Bear stare?"

"Apparently it makes people endlessly happy," John replied, buying into the redirect, if not the lie. He understood the need for topic changes. "But it's basically the most unattractive pelvic thrust known to man."

Ben blinked. "They stared with their hips?"

"Uh huh," John nodded. "Oh, and Jaina will probably threaten to kill me for passing the tape around, but she doesn't really mean it." She was a sappy, sappy girl, after all.

Ben's flinch was noticeable only if you were watching him closely. "I don't want you to get in trouble," he said softly.

"It's not real trouble," he reminded him. "She's even been borderline happy lately."

The twitch was more obvious that time. "Good."

Okay, that shouldn't make a kid twitch. "Lemme guess, your Jaina's not so happy?" Which likely meant no one was for some reason or another.

Ben bit his lip and shook his head.

"More trouble with the family?" If Jacen had attacked her again John wasn't going to be able to be nice the next time he saw that guy, right universe or not.

Ben nodded. "It's over," he said softly.

"Like over over?" Meaning people were dead. Well, more people.

"Change of government, stupid speeches, lots of funerals over," Ben replied.

"That's a big over," John commented. "Anyone I know get a funeral?" There were so many potentials.

Ben paused. No one had told him if Jacen had gotten a funeral. "Did you meet Tenel Ka's dad?"

"The guy Jaina almost married? No," he shook his head. "But man, that's awful for Tenel Ka."
