Food Appreciation - Tuesday - Period Three

"We're covering Mexican food today!" Marshall said, clapping his hands together. "The one thing that always hits the spot. Until you have to go to the bathroom."

Nice, Marshall.

"Mexican food is, obviously, food that originated in Mexico. It's pretty popular in this country since it's so close..." Marshall paused. "Kind of makes me wonder why Canadian food isn't more popular. I do love their bacon. Even if it is really ham. Anyways. Most of the stuff you find in restaurants here is an Americanized version of Mexican cuisine, sometimes know as Tex-Mex or Cal-Mex, depending where in the country you are. It's good food that fills you up pretty quick. It's been my experience that you can order pretty much anything in a Mexican restaurant and it'll be good."

Marshall could order anything from any restaurant and he'd think it was good.

"We've got a lot of stuff here: burritos, tacos, empanadas, enchiladas, fajitas, gorditas, quesadillas, tacos, tamales..." Marshall said, pointing at each type of food as he said the name. "And we've also got nachos and churros, which are freaking delicious."

"So, yeah, it's damn good food and they're filled with all sorts of good stuff. You can get pretty creative with it if you decide to make it yourself," he said. "I'd rather just go to a restaurant though because I'm lazy. And you get free chips and salsa at some places. Okay, I've wasted enough of your eating time. Eat up!"

Ned didn't really mind if Professor Eriksen was making stuff up. The food smelled delicious and that's what was important.

Ned grabbed a burrito and a fajita to start with and sat down to start eating. He hoped he didn't get heartburn. That would stink.

Really now, if he had not been making things up Viki would have been deeply confused.

As it was, she listened patiently--if she listened, after all, getting to the food would feel quicker.

I want to go to California Tortilla but the closest one is back home D: I'm not driving three hours for a delicious bbq-ranch burrito.

Viki didn't bother really learning the names of things, but just picked something at random, and set to.

Mmmm.

Nachos, enchiladas, burritos... It's amazing that Peyton was still able to fit into her clothes after this class.

Oooooh. S'far as I know, Californian's in SF and LA still call it Tex-Mex, but now I feel the urge to cheer on my home state.
