"Sorry about last week," Rikku said breezily. "I had a chocobo-shaped boyfriend and some class assignments and my brain is like a sieve. I brought extra donuts as a form of apology."

Or bribery. Either way. Donuts made everything better.

"So what's up?"

"I...have no idea," Lee said. "Maybe I'll wing it."

"Do you need ideas?" Rikku asked. "You could write up some fake gossip about people in town, or hold a contest to try to predict what's going to happen next, weird-wise."

"Oooh, either of those sound doable," Lee said, nodding. "Let me give it some thought, see what creativity I can stir up and you will have your article, Madam Editor!"

"Sounds great," Rikku laughed. "And if neither of those go anywhere, I'll be around, hit me up for more thoughts."

"I'm pretty sure I still write for this paper," Cal noted. "I can't remember."

"You look familiar," Rikku teased lightly. "So, you want to kick in an article this week? It'll be fun."

"I'm going to try," Cal said, lower lip jutting out into a pout that he hoped made him look pathetic, and therefor piteous and worthy of sympathy. "I mean it. If anything, I can plug the art crawl or the play or something."

"You could write an article about how mean I am," Rikku suggested, not sounding all that sorry. "Expose the seedy underbelly of what really goes on behind the scenes of the paper. It'd be juicy."

It would also be entirely fiction.

But fiction tended to be all he could write lately, anyway.

"Won't people wonder, though," asked Cal, "how it got through the censors if it's even remotely true?"

I can't do it now. The joke's kinda been killed.

As he nibbled on a donut, Cal thoughtfully realized that maybe he was only in clubs for the food, because he certainly hadn't been in this one to write articles recently.

Writers' block was a bitch.

Ask her about those threeways with a Slayer and a cop.

Ghanima was not going to answer any questions from students regarding the nature of her friendship with Detective Montoya and Ms. Lehane.

She would, however, answer (most) other questions they might have.

It is definitely Thursday. Yup.
