Ash's Art Appreciation, Studio Work #5

::Ash sits at his desk, playing with a Gameboy. Faint Russian-sounding music can be heard::

::The classroom has been laid out with different colored macaroni, beads, and multiple kinds of string. As usual, the instructions are written on the board::

"Today, you will make necklaces! You may wear them out."

Krycek digs through a cup of pony beads, making a face. "It's not what I expected, that's for sure." Pulling out glow in the dark beads, he begins to make a pile.

"Around here, things rarely are," Jake said wisely, then grinned again, before returning to his beads. "So, you do anything interesting yesterday?"

Krycek didn't start guiltily or anything - he was at least better trained than that. He did, however, shrug, pulling out a length of string to put his beads on. "Not really."

"Nah, me either. Just doing homework and stuff. Logan was out, so I nicked the playstation for a bit. Half expecting there'll be a zombie invation today or something. This much quiet just ain't right."

Krycek frowned at another cup of beads, digging out some back and white ones distractedly. "It's never that quiet around here. Sometimes you're just not looking in the right place."

"Apparently, my house wasn't that place yesterday then," Jake replied wryly. "If something blew up somewhere, I bet I'll find out about it sooner or later."

Krycek's frown deepened very slightly, though that might as well have been frustration at the last black bead escaping beneath a pile of others. "Probably." He glanced over at Jake, expression lightening. "Hey, are you busy tonight?"

"Nah," Jake shook his head, then paused and sighed. "Well, I have the newspaper meeting at four - and Chloe will probably kill me dead if I don't turn up - but nothing after that. Why? Wanna do something?"

Shrugging, Krycek looked fairly nonchalant. "Coffee? I wanted to talk to you about something. Nothing big," he said, reassuring. "But not something I want to talk about where the walls have ears."

"Sure thing. Perky at, say, six? Hope to god the meeting is finished by then."

Stringing beads, he nodded. "Six is great. Pass me one of those little beads there?" He gestured at a dish on the other side of Jake, distracted by his necklace.

"'Kay." Jake handed the bead over, then grabbed a couple for himself.

They went back to working in silence, only occasionally asking the other to pass a bead, until the class was over.
