Thaumaturgy 101 - First Period, Thursday 3/19
She waited until they were all inside before stepping over and starting to hand out the sheets she'd prepared on the subject.
"Those of you who took my course on alchemy will no doubt be familiar with the information we're covering today, and with today's activity. We'll be covering metal lore... and we'll be making colloidal silver. At the end of class, I'll be happy to judge your product to see if it's viable as the substance is, in fact, quite useful as I'll continue on to explain.
"Gold, of course, is the first of the metals we'll be covering. Considering the 'purest' of metals, gold does not tarnish. It is connected with the sun and thus with active, male energy primarily. It is associated with the heart, and thus with matters of the heart, and obviously with matters of wealth and plenty. Of course, if you HAVE gold you probably don't need a spell for wealth, but it can be used to retain such things as well as to gain them. It is also a very good all purpose metal, being so pure.
"Silver, the second, is also a good, all-purpose metal. Associated with the moon and more passive, female energy, as well as with darkness. It is good for anything which requires reflection, whether inner or outer, as silver is used to produce mirrors. Silver is also considered a protective metal, useful in both defense and in healing work.
"Mercury, or Quicksilver, comes next. As you might have noticed, it is the only liquid in this group and thus the properties inherent are fluidity, and haste. It is also an excellent metal for association, connecting two seemingly unconnectable concepts.
"Copper, on the other hand, is related to romantic concerns. Gold's association with the heart has more to do with temperament and emotion, whereas copper is related to Venus, the goddess of love in the Greek culture. Copper brings cooperation, flexibility, and the properties of water to any working.
"Iron, as you might have guessed, is the Mars to Copper's Venus. Iron is red, related to the blood, and any of you can probably guess the uses for iron in thaumaturgy. On top of that, however, Iron is exceedingly helpful in using the properties of Earth into a working.
"Lastly, tin and lead serve almost similar purposes. Tin is especially good at preserving. Lead, on the other hand, gives 'weight' to a working, lasting power. If you'd like to discuss the differences at length, I'll be here after class.
"That said, I'd like you now to get into groups of three or four and get started on the lab work. Sound good?"

"Bugger that!" she muttered.
She went ahead and made the stuff anyway -- she sure as hell wasn't going to drink it, but it might be a pretty useful spell component. And who knew? Maybe someday she'd need to slip poison into a werewolf's tea.
...And she did, of course, keep the presence of mind to drop a few of the silver wires into her bag.

Is good stuff too. It's got a bit more body than just a chocolate tea since some of the chocolate melts off the chips when you make it. Very num. Though this stuff (https://www.adagio.com/flavors/valentines.html?SID=ea77bba9e3ffba0e4c1046de4155c19b) kinda takes the cake for dessert tea for me. With a possible exception of this (https://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/blend.html?blend=1519&SID=ea77bba9e3ffba0e4c1046de4155c19b) stuff. Well, on Adagio. Sometimes I cheat on them with Teavana and Dragonwell, but I'm trying to be good with cost lately ^_^
