Young Entrepreneurs; Monday, Period 6 [ 03/16 ].

Turtle had the benefit of having been an older little kid, therefor far less prone to doing anything embarrassing, and, besides, eight year old Turtle was remarkably similar to almost-seventeen year old Turtle in her approach to life, hindered by a smaller vocabulary, tinier height, and a preoccupation with cooties.

Well, she had made Marco cry, but that was neither here nor there. And, anyway, it was back to business time, so there was no preamble today beyond a greeting, because there was a lot of work to be done today. She was going to get a lot of use out of the blackboard in the classroom.

"Okay, so, today's a good day to see where we stand. Last week, Leto had a few suggestions about getting a firmer idea on what we're putting in the cases and Alice and I discussed the matter of packaging a lot, and so here's what we've got so far."

Inside the Kits
-Smaller First Aid kit with bandages, antibiotic cream, etc, etc
-Sustenance (bottle of water, dried fruit and jerky, granola bars, etc, etc)
-Invisibility tent for hiding (lots left over from last semester)
-Coupons for pie (after-incident therapy)
-All-purpose tool?
-Small weapon of some kind? (school allowance needed?)
-etc, etc.
-Advice booklet/card
-Earplugs
-Clothing
-Underwear

Packaging
-Strong
-Durable
-Movable (wheels!)
-Identification label
-Straps

"Now, these are just some ideas, so let's brainstorm on some others and I'll add them to our lists and then maybe we can even start putting them together soon."

He had eaten WAY TOO MANY pamcakes plus cake at the party last night but he had managed to get himself together to make some pies.

So, today there was a mud pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/40-a-day/mud-pie-recipe/index.html), in honor of the weekend, and a crustless apple pie with vanilla ice cream (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/danny-boome/crustless-apple-pie-with-vanilla-ice-cream-recipe/index.html).

Even with him being so full, he was tempted to eat some pies.

"Well, all the elements of the pie are still there," Ned pointed out, "save for the crust. Maybe...half a pie?"

"A pie without its clothes," Ned agreed with a laugh. "It's an exhibitionist pie."

"The ice cream is sort of a covering!" Ned tried. "Like a slip."

Alice most certainly had to try the mud pie. And hope it was far tastier than its namesake.

Leto smiled at Alice. "So you learnt to play games at an early age?"

"I always played games," she admitted, flushing to meet his eyes. "I invented them when there were none to suffice."

After a moment, and possibly a toescuff, she added, "Are you ... well?"

"I'm glad to hear that," Leto replied, reaching out to take her hand. "And yes, I am. Are you?" There was a little concern in his eyes.

"Oddly contemplative," she said, idly twining his fingers with hers. "Perhaps I shan't be able to say until I've properly processed it all."

He gave her a tiny nod and a smile. After a while, he added: "I apologise for challenging you on Saturday." It was followed by a light tug at her hand.

At that, she laughed, tugging back playfully. "None should challenge High Queen Alice," she said with mock-solemnity. "You should feel lucky not to have been dragged off by my loyal bodyguards."

"Oh!" He smirked. "Very lucky indeed, it seems. You clearly hadn't brought the guards to my room."

"They try not to pry into my private affairs," she said, turning slightly pink. After all, Arthur had intruded in a similar fashion, however unintentionally.

Roommates were a nuisance when it came to having private affairs.

"Of course, that means your private affairs leave you vulnerable to attack," he teased.

"I shall have to choose carefully, then," she said lightly. "Be certain that my private affairs only involve individuals I trust."

She had, perhaps, decided this already, for herself. She had no argument against others being promiscuous, but she'd felt exposed, in his arms. Not that she was objecting. But she couldn't picture haphazardly letting just anyone in that close.

Leto gently ran his hand up along her arm, smiling. "Trust is of great importance in private affairs," he agreed. He also didn't let random people close, even if he didn't need to know them very well.

"I would agree," she said with a soft smile of her own. "Which conveniently allows my bodyguards to rest easy on such occasions."

"I am sure they are thankful for the time off," Leto grinned. He thought about suggesting some more private time, possibly behind a locked door this time, but decided that should be up to Alice for now.

She honestly didn't know how she would have reacted to that; she enjoyed it, and she would like to do it again at some point; she had no concept of whether that would be tomorrow or months from now. She was still assimilating, really.

"One must be kind to one's servants," she said, graciously, instead.

Which was why Leto was going to be patient. He smiled, meeting her eyes, and felt warmed by her presence. "That is usually wise."
