Dream is smiling slightly as he stands before the class, and he has put out platters of coffee and donuts.

He got them from Deb's. Really.

Classics students: We are going to wrap up our unit on Hebrew with a review of verbs in the language. Review this handout.

Asian Language Students: We're moving into a study of Cantonese Chinese. We will begin with this exercise in Cantonese greetings and short phrases.

We will be discussing these concepts on Friday as well, and both classes will have a quiz on Monday.

Rogue signs in and grabs the handout. She mutters about dead languages and starts cursing under her breath in what might be Spanish. Or maybe French. More likely, it's a bastard mixture of both.

Dream notices Rogue's cursing and sidles over to her. He speaks softly.

Miss D'Ancanto, I've noticed that you seem to have trouble with this class. I hope you would avail yourself of the language lab should you need extra assistance.

Rogue smiles at the professor, though she doesn't look happy. "It's just...they're dead! I mean, not really, but I just can't see the point. I'm probably just not trying hard enough." She sighs. "I'll do that, professor."

Dream strokes his chin. It feels to him as though people were speaking Ancient Hebrew and Greek only a few moments ago, but he knows how short-sighted many Earth mortals are when they think about time.

He smiles absently at the girl, who, he realizes, isn't quite a normal mortal.

Dead is a state of mind.

Rogue sighs. "Thank you professor."

If only Erik knew Hebrew, not just Polish, I'd be doing just fine...
