Student Council, Friday, Lunchtime (2/20/09)

Nathan had pizza available for lunch today.

"Great job on the dance," Nathan said. "You guys should be proud of yourselves. So, what are you going to do next? Brainstorm, come up with ideas, let me know if you have anything you feel strongly about. Remember it doesn't have to be as big as a dance. Smaller events are okay too."

"Maybe, like, a week or whatever of smaller events?" Ino suggested. "Like... pajama day, and stuff?"

"Oooh, sort of a spirit week thing?" Lee asked. "Pajama day. Formal wear day? Cunning hat day?"

"If spirit week is what you'd call it," she said with a grin. "Swimwear day? If we had it in, like, April when it was warmer a bit. Plaid day? There's a lot of things that could be picked."

"Hawaiian shirt day," Ender added, "If we'd like everyone to get pneumonia."

It wasn't a very helpful suggestion. "Might as well make it hotdog day in the common room."

"Maybe a party at the pool?" she mused, having to grin a bit. Romeo would love a Hawaiian shirt day, she just knew it. "Hot dogs and a pool party..."

"That'd keep us warm and let us have hot dogs and Hawaiian shirts," he said, nodding. "I bet we could grill down there if we were careful."

"The students could probably use something to remind them of summer," Ender said, "Or at least continue the feeling after the cruise."

Good for morale, he didn't say.

"We talked about a multi-cultural festival before the holidays," Joan said. "Maybe we can re-visit that idea?"

"It'd help include all the students," Ender observed, "If they were willing to pitch in with some of their own culture."

"Is there a way to gauge interest in that, do you think?" Lee wondered.

"A school-wide poll might be a little much," he said, thinking about it, "But we can probably approach a few people from out-of-the-way dimensions individually about whether they're willing to participate."

She nibbled on pizza, cross-legged in a chair, and just watching everyone else.

Joan ate her pizza, completely oblivious to any frustrations that people might be dealing with.
