Blank Page Art Club, After Classes, Monday, 2/9

Claire had an old issue of Seventeen in her lap and was snipping at it almost viciously as she waited for the group to gather. "We're making collages about how much our weekends sucked," she said, once it seemed like everyone was there. "If your weekend didn't suck, make collages about how much Valentine's Day sucks. Or how much something else sucks."

She gestured with one hand to the stack of old magazines, scissors, posterboard and other mixed media, including glitter in several colors. Somehow, the supply table didn't look right without it.

Angela was actually studiously trying not to think about her weekend.

Her collage could probably be accused of being cheerful, if only because there was copious amounts of glitter. It also involved a lot of black and red.

Cal's weekend sucked in a way that he didn't want to express in artwork in a room with only one person who would even understand the significance of why it sucked as badly as it did.

So Cal was spending a lot of time just staring at the art supplies, dumbfounded, realizing that was nothing he could possibly think to do to make it seem like his weekend didn't suck.

The whole gawking at everything mode was going to be pretty consistent and strong today.

...Liir started in, chopping with the kind of wild abandon one might imagine on a crazed kirigami master.

Why. did he always. have to burst out. SINGING?

At least, however, the songs had been relatively bad tempered. It made it less annoying.

Katchoo didn't want to talk about it.

Not that this was new.

She did, however, seem to be stabbing at anything that looked like spandex in the pages she was working on.

. . . there wasn't so much cutting-out happening here.

Claudia's collage was decidedly unhappy. Lots of dark colors, ragged edges and words like "mixed signals" and "jackass" and "amoeba" (she meant amnesia but had ripped the wrong thing out of a National Geographic magazine...) glued on.

Alice's weekend had not been particularly traumatic.

Conveniently, Alice's artwork always tended towards the somewhat disturbing, though she rarely intended that it be so.

There were playing cards and knives and a rather bloody battle, taking place on her collage. It needed more glitter.

Sokka wanted to spend as little time thinking about the weekend as possible, especially since he spent it as a piece of dirty laundry.

...but VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Sokka put together a happy, sappy collage full of hearts and flowers, surrounding a beautiful sketch of Mel.

...Of course, his art skills were... somewhat overrated, so the casual passerby would probably wonder why he'd drawn a hideous monster.

Peyton's collage was decidedly not happy. Not like much, if any, of her art was anyhow.

Lily was here, and kind of had the impression Claire thought the weekend sucked. And this one time? At band camp?
