Flight Club [Flight Shed]

The power was out when Gavin woke up. The power continued to be out when Gavin (possibly stupidly) started tromping over to the flight shed for the first meeting of the club for the new semester. The power remained out and thus, there was no working flight sim.

Well, bummer.

The snow continued to fall and Gavin decided just to make this a quick meeting so no one would freeze and possibly sue him.

"Uh, hey guys," he said, blowing warm air through his hands. "So, we have no power. We have no flight sim. This is only the first meeting so hopefully this gets fixed by next time. Um, we can do quick intros and then we can all go run back inside and get warm. Or, as warm as we can since there's no power."

Kriffing power.

"So, I'm Gavin. I'm a senior. I fly X-Wings back home. And I'm really kriffing cold."

He was a desert boy, he was allowed to be cold.

"Okay, anyone can go next. Name, class, what you fly if you fly and if you're cold or not."

"How would he have even found out?" Ben flailed. "I haven't told anyone but Ender."

Tahiri was a little too caught up in flailing of her own to latch onto more than the last part of that, and . . .

"You told Ender that we . . . ?"

More flailing. "Should I not have?"

"No, it's okay, but -- maybe now isn't the time for this discussion." Tahiri shot another nervous glance toward Anakin. "Do you think he found out somehow?"

"I think if he had, I would've been Force-yanked by the ear and given a talking to by now," Ben admitted.

She relaxed marginally and reached out to just barely brush his fingertips with hers. "I don't want you to get in trouble because of me."

He rolled his eyes. "To be in trouble I'd have to care what he thought about this."

She wasn't really sure why that made her smile, but it did. "Sorry to freak you out."

He gave her fingertips a little squeeze. "You're allowed," he said quietly.

"But I won't use my powers for evil," Tahiri said lightly.

"Probably better that way," he agreed with a smile. "I forget I'm related to, like, half of this club," he said, looking around.

"Poor Ben," Tahiri teased. "Family everywhere you turn on this island."

"Can't get away with anything," Ben lamented, shaking his head.

Tahiri half wanted to hug him but that might be a little obvious. "Want me to distract them for you when you need to get away with something?"

"What if I want to get away with something with you?" he asked.

"That's when your mouse droids come in handy," said Tahiri, who was now giving him an oh really? look.

Ben's cheeks went pink. "So...speaking of doing something, wanna go...bowling or something soon?" he babbled.

Awww, babbling. "What, you mean like a date? What do you think? Of course I would!"

Sometimes Tahiri liked to cut to the point.

Ben beamed at her, looking absolutely relieved. "You said yes!"

"Actually, I was thinking of saying no unless you did something about the braid," Tahiri said solemnly. Or tried, anyway; a little bit of a laugh snuck in there at the end.

Ben clutched at the braid protectively. "Why's everyone making fun of it this week?"

When he whined, he sound a lot like his father did. Except for the ~~random~~ Coruscanti accent, of course.

Tahiri couldn't help laughing. She really couldn't. "I only tease because I think it's cute."

"All right," Ben said, looking a little appeased.

"I'll make it up to you," she promised.

"That sounds promising," Ben said, grinning.
