Care for Magical Creatures; Period One. [ 12/15 ].

The class met, for the final time that semester, in a regular classroom, with regular desks and regular chairs. Minsc certainly hoped none of his students were entertaining the idea of cheating on their exam, because the setting was already making him feel a mite restless. He riffled through the large stack of papers in his calloused hands, dog-earing the corners unintentionally, although they were looking in pretty rough shape already. Someone, who would remain nameless, had been nibbling on them.

"Good morning, students! This is our last class this semester! I hope you have studied! Let me take a moment to share with you that it has been an excellent class and I hope you all enjoyed it as well as I have! This is the first test I have ever had to give involving pencil and paper rather than sword and blood, so I hope it is not too easy.

He paused, for dramatic effect.

"Or hard! You have an hour to complete it; you may leave when you are finished, and keep your eyes on your own paper or else you might not have any eyes after that! Boo and I are watching! Good luck!"

1. Griffin- Eagle and Lion. Pegasus- Horse and Eagle.
2. A basilisk is a big snake that can kill people with it's gaze. A cockatrice is a reptilian Rooster that turns people to stone with it's gaze. They're both reptilian, but their gazes have different effects.
3. handwave
4. Amphibians can breathe just as easily in water, as on land. I think that makes us pretty darn magical. Also Muppets can talk.
5.handwave
6. Griffin, Hippogriff, Pegasus
7. Elf, Gnome, Kender, Dwarf.
8. Handwavey about how nurturing the egg was neat, and how the cockatrice was actually kind of cute in it's shaded hamster ball.

Savannah's handwaved answers were very detailed.

Jan picked up the pencil in his teeth, eyed the paper, then spat the pencil out and sighed. Now would be a good time for him to be gifted with hands again, but after a moment, he realised it wasn't going to happen.

Ears canted, he read through the questions, working out the answers in his head.

Jan pranced a little in place, ears pricked. "Thank you," he said, and bobbed his head. "I will ensure that they are good answers."

Chris answered all of the questions well within the allotted time.

He did well in the class, probably earning a 'B' overall.

Edmund answered all of the questions in short form with as little detail as possible, but the answers were correct. The last question fell a little short as he didn't have much to say.

Helen did marvelously well on the test and, with the exception of being nearly frozen by the basilisk, had done extremely well in the class.

Sam answered all of the questions thoroughly and correctly, except, possibly, for the extra credit. "Whatever piece of cheese you put in my hair" might not be the right answer, but he was kind of hoping it would make their teacher laugh, and that counted for something in his mind.

Mac had done her preparation, as usual, and easily came up with answers for all the questions. The written part was the simpler one for her when it came to this class.

She wasn't sure on the extra credit, but wrote cheddar, hoping that maybe Boo had similar tastes to her own space creature.

Ella filled out the test with answers that were complete, if a little stronger on clever wording than on specific details. Her essay about the egg strained to be kind to the ... thing. It was solid B+ work, A- if Minsc felt kind.

Harry was relieved but also slightly disappointed that the final was in fact just a test. Mostly relieved though, because this meant the big scary electronic room would not have a chance to kill him and he'd gotten through an entire semesters worth of classes in here without anything blowing up or even malfunctioning too much. Go Dresden.

His test of handwaviness! was ok, probably a B (much like his classwork in general). His answer for question 8 went into detail on how very relieved he'd been when his egg hadn't hatched into anything that ate him, though it had been weird that the critter had changed sizes every time he looked at it.

Jeff was scribbling. Jeff was scribbling many things. Whether what Jeff was scribbling was actively related to the questions or not was up to the reader, though. It remained to be noted that he appeared to have bent many questions in such an incomprehensible way that they came back down to his dog, however.

For the extra credit question, he wrote Dragon Breast Cheese because he thought it sounded a bit Minsc-ish, flourished it, and then turned in the entire monstrosity of a test, doodled women in the margins and all.

Any question that had obvious answers or could be easily BS'd, Marco did well on. The others? Yeah, not so much.

Jan was here, a bit sad that the class was over (and quite satisfied that he was the best of all the magical creatures the class had seen...with the possible exception of the giant miniature space hamster.)

Jeff was here. Jeff was confused. Jeff... had a feeling that somehow, time had warped around him in a way that he didn't quite understand.

It made him nervous. Everything did.
