History in Living Colour - Friday, Period 3 (Week 14)
There was a note on the door of the Danger Shop directing the students to follow the marked path to a clearing where the Doctor was waiting. A hole had been dug and a small marker placed. A container that could have been made of plastic, but was probably made of something much stronger and technologically advanced, sat in the hole.
"So!" the Doctor said once the class was gathered together. "Last class. No final next Friday. You'll find out for yourselves soon enough if you've learned anything from the past thirteen weeks. I hope you have. In a place like this, you'll need all the practical experience you can get. Try not to alter the timeline too badly. Messy business. Not very fun at all, trust me.
If you all paid attention to the notes I sent you, then you'll have brought something to add to our time capsule. One at a time, come forward, explain what you brought and why you think it should go in the capsule, then put it in."

Add to the Time Capsule
Re: Add to the Time Capsule
Karal held it up to catch the sunlight, and it seemed to glow. "It doesn't matter how many jewels it has if the one wearing it has no faith, if you look past the sparkle and see only dross. But," he lowered it into the time capsule, letting it settle before dropping the cord, "sometimes you look past the sparkle and find something even brighter, even better. To me, that's what Fandom has been. I arrived and it was bright and shiny and impressive, and, frankly, a bit frightening, like nothing I'd ever seen and nowhere I'd ever been. It sparkled and glittered, but when I looked beyond that I found people who were kind and strong and courageous, and a place that was fundamentally good, a place where all are welcome." He lifted one shoulder in a half shrug. "That is why I chose the medal."
He bowed his head and said a brief and silent prayer before he and Altra moved back to the other students.

"I have my family crest... and a photo of friends I ahve made while here in Fandom. They represent both parts of my life -- back home, and the home here that I've come to love."

"This," she said, and a brief look of embarrassment crossed her face at the slight crack in her voice, "is kind of cheesy, I know, but it's a complete set of Frankie Chang action movies. On VHS. They're classics in the year 3000 and I grew up on them, but I developed a new appreciation for them when I was living in the year 2000."
Which was the truth, even if she left out the details about how said appreciation developed when one of Ransik's mutants faked a Frankie Chang movie shoot down the street from the clock tower and sucked her and the rest of the team into separate movie genres to try and kill them all. Mostly, she was leaving that part out because she thought she'd dissolve into hysterical laughter recounting Wes in drag, and because she still really didn't want to think about Eric in a leopard-skin loincloth.
"So," she continued, "it really represents both for me."

"This week's copy of the Fandom Hightimes. It kind of sums up the week-by-week here at Fandom... pretty good. And..."
He shrugged again.
"It's more than I ever did out and about at my last school."

"These are from the music store," Alice said, placing the CDs inside. "I work there, and I learn about music in Fandom, and from all the time that I've missed. These were a few that were particular favorites. In the future, they may know of these artists; if not, I wish them a pleasant discovery, should they be able to play the discs."
"And this ..." She held up the suitcase with a frown. "Is one of the only items I have from my life before Fandom, and the only one I have no attachment for. It was given to me when I left the asylum. I have been meaning to take it out somewhere and burn it; tossing it into a time capsule is sufficient."

For a moment, he wondered what his life would've been like had he never come to Fandom. Adam felt he was better off with both experiences and he didn't want to ever forget them.
