There were ice baths set up at each Danger Shop lab station today, and Tyler tossed goggles and gloves at each student as they came in. He folded his arms and waited for the class to settle before beginning. If he was enjoying teaching this session a little less than he normally did, he gave little sign.

Then he reached onto his desk and held up a container of clear, thick stuff. "So this," he said, "is the extra glycerin from the soap we made the first week. And now it's time to get to the fun part and make it nitroglycerin."

He pointed out two vials on his desk. "This is nitric acid. The big one is sulfuric acid. What you're going to do is add the nitric to to three times the amount of sulfuric in the ice batch, then start adding the glycerin with an eyedropper."

"This is a delicate reaction, so please, work in pairs if you can stand it. One person watches the vat, other one drops in the glycerin. You'll know you're done when it gels up."

"Once you see that happen, you can scoop it out and mix it with sawdust to get a plastic explosive. You can roll it together and light it on fire. We don't have to do that this week, but if you have time, we have a lovely shooting range for you to test it in." He gestured to the back wall of the shop and hit a button on the control panel, transforming it into a wall of assorted ~~moddable~~ targets.

"You can also fake a similar reaction with some supermarket stuff -- Diet Pepsi and kitty litter, or Orange juice and gasoline. If you're really interested in that, see me after class. It's dangerous, not something to screw around with."

"Go to work. I'll be around. And remember, science fair is a week from today. Extra credit if you participate."

Ino kinda bounced a bit in her seat as she listened.

Jack's eyebrows threatened to join his hairline. This was great!

Make nitroglycerin. For credit. Ah, Tyler.

She, yes, bounced slightly on her feet as she glanced around for a partner.

"Hey Ino," Adam smiled. "Fancy partnering up?" He'd gladly be the one to watch with today's experiment. Still, it might be kind of fun.

Chris loved his school.

If there was any one thing Reno loved most about Fandom, it was learning about all sorts of new and shiny ways to blow the crap outta things.

He might have been humming to himself, yes.

Rikku was going sloooooowly. And trying not to bounce. Which was hard.

This was the best class ever...as long as Jack didn't do something stupid.

He was being very careful.

He's there and a font of information.

"...you know, Tyler-sensei," she said, wrinkling her nose at him, "hearing that Diet Pepsi and kitty litter can do stuff like that? Makes you wonder, a bit, why people'd even drink Pepsi in the first place. I mean, at least the orange juice and gasoline is more... well, you can blame the gasoline."

Tyler laughed. "You know, 15 years of doing this and that never occurred to me," he told Ino. "Good question, though. I've heard it'll dissolve metal if you let it soak long enough."

"...I'm never drinking it again," she decided, mildly disturbed. "People's insides don't deserve that 'less you really don't like them."

"Most processed food's pretty disgusting if you know what's in it," Tyler said helpfully.

Not that that ever stopped him, but still.

"Yeah, but it's different to know that vaguely than to know the specifics," she said, frowning at him. "And, admittedly, we've got a lot less processed food back home than people do here."

"Probably they live longer back home, too," Tyler informed her, before he remembered his conversation with her father and winced slightly. "...less heart disease and cancer, anyhow."

"Diseases and stuff aren't really a big thing to shinobi," she admitted. "Unless it strikes while we're really little. I don't know 'bout the civilians though. So, maybe."

"Sounds like your world's pretty segregated," he noted. "You really don't know civilians, huh?"

"Not really?" she admitted sheepishly. "I mean, you see them at play, and you buy things from them, but all my friends are either shinobi, or from shinobi families? I haven't had much of a reason to know them, really."

Who could probably teach this session.

Probably, she could teach it, but Ino would be rather surprised if anyone trusted her enough to do so.
