Care for Magical Creatures; Period One. [ 12/01 ]

This morning, the students would find the danger shop classroom reduced in size by about half. On the blackboard, there was a crude sketch of a great dragon, smoke pouring from his nostrils and jaw gapping open, a dramatic speech bubble proclaiming 'RAWR!' issuing forth from his maw with licking flames. On the opposite wall, there was the ~~moddable~~ collection of weapons, armour, and other items in case anyone wanted to stock up good and well for today's intrepid activity, which, clearly, lied beyond one side of the room. It was overtaken with a great, rocky area, leading into a mountain that disappeared into the ceiling, leaving only a series of deep, dark cavern openings.

"Good morning, class!" Minsc greeted them cheerfully, as usual, but there was a level of anxiousness in his voice. "I hope you feel you are well prepared for today!" Because he sure wasn't; he was going to be very jumpy on the Cancel button today, he feared. "It is time for us to face our dragons! Find your partner, prepare, and enter the cave of your choosing, and hopefully avoid being burned to a crisp!"

"I can answer any questions you may have before going in, and let me take a moment to mention that next week, I would like to do a little Show And Tell! Even if you have just an ordinary creature, bring them in; we will introduce our pets to the class and talk about what about them might be magical. I am sure it will be a nice, quiet departure after today!"

Partner up and prepare to meet your ~~doom~~ dragon!

It wasn't the first time Dor had to face the dragon but these creatures could be completely different from Xanth dragons and perhaps even more dangerous.

He pondered that for a bit as he looked around for a partner.

Mac was looking forward to this prospect about as much as she was last week. Which is to say 'not much'.

Still, she looked about for Ella to see if she still wanted to partner up.

Ella was eying the armor, half terrified and half-exhilarated. "He can't really burn us to a crisp during class," she said, trying to sound confident.

"I think the danger shop kicks in at that point," Mac said reassuringly. She didn't really want to test out that theory, though.

"I'd rather not find out for sure," Ella said, unconsciously reading Mac's mind as she looked to Professor Minsc. "He seems nervous."

Mac followed Ella's gaze, eying their teacher dubiously. "Comforting," she remarked wryly.

Savannah was there and ready as she looked around for Chris.

"You ready for this?" Chris asked, sitting next to her.

Robin hadn't actually managed to get a partner last week. He was just a bit worried.

Helen looked around for Sam.

Sam was looking back and forth between Helen and the weapons. "Hey," he said. "Think you're ready to face a dragon?"

"I hope so," she said, taking a deep breath.

"I've got your back, for what that's worth," Sam said. "Not that I'll literally be behind you, because that would be kind of mean. Unless you want me to be, I mean."

"I think side-by-side might be wiser," Helen agreed.

Somehow, Harry had a feeling that something was going to go wrong with this. That's why he was looking for a partner he could hide behind. Being very tall, his options were severely limited.

Or at least which cavern you and your partner will choose.

Once they are present and accounted for.

It was a guilty looking Jan who sidled up to do TA duties. He didn't actually remember being a plushie (though he was getting used to not remembering stuff), but he knew he'd been gone for some time.

Tail swishing, he peered through his forelock at his fellow students and just hoped no one had noticed.

He hadn't quite wrapped his head around the idea that unicorns were noticeable, both by their presence and their absence.

[ooc: my availability is, yeah, not after EST 7 am ish. I am game to SP if you want Jan, though.]

Jeff was attempting to wrap his mind around the concept of dragons while at the same time trying very hard not to chew his way through his notepad due to said dragons.

He was available, should you be able to wrest the notepad from his white-knuckled clutches.

Although, to be fair, he secretly felt dragons were kind of cool.

He's available both before any dragon-ness and after class!

Work? Is a stupid, stupid hater. My availability for today is going to be suspended until evening EST, and then not even too late, sooo...

...what this means for you and your partner is that you have the option to mod dragons if you would like. I am more than happy to play a dragon out for you as well, if you don't mind the sparse availability. Just indicate if you'd like me to chime in with dragonness! Otherwise, anything's pretty much fair game, but, as soon as injuries are incurred on you or your partner, the simulation will shut down.

*pouts at work more*
