The Art of War, Week #13 [Period 3, Monday]
"Since our time together is rapidly coming to close, I thought we'd try something a little different today," Ghanima said as the class met in the Danger Shop as handwavily ordered. "Today, we take Tzu a bit literally. Today we're playing with fire."
"Fire. The great cleanser, and the great equalizer. A weapon that can turn around and bite the hand that started it just as suddenly as the wind changes."
"Sun Tzu said: There are five ways of attacking with fire," Ghanima lectured, watching them inscrutably. "The first is to burn soldiers in their camp, the second is to burn stores. A third is to burn baggage trains; the fourth is to burn arsenals and magazines; and the fifth is to hurl dropping fire amongst the enemy. A rain of fire, if you will."
"In attacking with fire, one should be prepared to meet five possible developments: First, when fire breaks out inside to enemy's camp, respond at once with an attack from without. However, if there is an outbreak of fire, but the enemy's soldiers remain quiet, bide your time and do not attack."
"When the force of the flames has reached its height, follow it up with an attack, if that is practicable; if not, stay where you are."
"If it is possible to make an assault with fire from without, do not wait for it to break out within, but deliver your attack at a favorable moment. Last, but not least, when you start a fire, be to windward of it. Do not attack from the leeward unless you wish to feel your own flames."
"If we were starting a fire in a business setting, or on an emotional battlefield, perhaps we'd start with some lies, spread carefully where they can do the most damage. Insinuations whispered in corners where they can breed disaster."
"Starting a real fire requires just as much care, if not more. It is a living, breathing entity, and the burns are far more dangerous on a physical level."
[OOC: You know the rules, wait for the OCD is up, and class is in session.]

Re: Class Participation
The one Reno had kicked earlier moved in quickly, intending to go hand-to-hand with him as his partner drew his sword and circled in slowly. All the movements of a pair trained to fight together for years, that knew their moves intimately.
Then there was a kick aiming for Reno's face, a sword for his legs, and the game was on.
Re: Class Participation
Hand-to-hand and avoiding one sword. Reno figured his chances were better that way. And if he could get past the both of them, he could grab that laser thing that the stupid speedbump had been using on him to deal with the last one. If he didn't feel like playing, at that point.
Right now, he was several feet in the air, his own foot aimed for the face of his newest dancing partner.
Re: Class Participation
Swordsman, meanwhile, thought Reno would look better if he had shorter hair. Or was short a head. Both would be a stunning new look for him.
Re: Class Participation
If Reno had to choose one in the thick of battle, like this, he'd probably go for hair. But, alas, hair seemed to come along with the 'head clean off his shoulders' package, and once again he seemed to be sandwiched between the two.
His head won out, in this instance, and he ducked forward and attempted to go into a somersault to get out of the way, his legs buckling underneath him at the punch. Freaking hurt. Was going to make freaking standing into an epic undergoing.
But Reno was used to doing things that left him holding his own guts in place. Epic undergoings weren't all that epic. They just meant he was going to have to make damn sure his legs didn't decide they wanted to stop working, underneath him.
The somersault ended in a reach outward for the gun that the dead one had so thoughtfully donated to the cause, and he fired off a couple shots with the swordsman in mind. Now it was a matter of taking out the one who could cut things off. He'd sooner punch and kick and be punched at than hacked at by a large sword. He already knew from experience, sharp things were not his friend.
Re: Class Participation
If Reno was going to focus on his partner, the other soldier wasn't going to wait around. He charged the other man, aiming a flying kick right at Reno's head.
