Achievements in Engineering #12, Period 2 Monday

"We're going to keep it simple today," said Mike. "Later on this week, most of us will be celebrating Thanksgiving, which started out as a harvest festival. People used to give thanks at harvest time because they were never certain that they'd have enough to eat. Now, I'm sure you future kids can just press a button and magically have food appear, but once upon a time, farmers had to work hard to produce food. That's why agricultural mechanization makes the list."

"Now, the end of the semester is coming up pretty quickly, so if you have any questions about anything we've covered up until now, I'll be happy to take them," continued Mike.

Take notes, pass notes, and ask Mike questions about anything covered so far. Or ask him something completely unrelated to class and he'll still try to answer.

"So," said Bender, his hand in the air. "How much space does it take to grow a turkey?"

"Well, obviously the turkey needs enough room to run around and stuff," said Mike. "I've heard of people raising turkeys (http://www.thereporter.com/ci_11055088?source=most_emailed) at home with their chickens. I'm not an expert, but I've seen some small backyard chicken coops that measured about 3 feet by 5 feet."

"Would a treadmill work?" Bender asked, making a rough sketch. "'cause turkeys aren't that tall, right?"

Mike chuckled. "I'm not sure you could even get a turkey to run on a treadmill. I had a pal who thought it would be cute to train his dog to run on one. The dog ran away and hid each time the treadmill was turned on."

Naomi took down detailed notes.

He's hanging around after class for that purpose.

I've been staring at a blank post for about 90 minutes now, and this is the best I can do. :p

But I'm around since it's my day off. Fire off those questions at Mike, and the weirder, the better.
