Student Council (Friday, Lunch)

Nathan had a selection of sodas, chips and sandwiches laid out for lunch.

"We had some good ideas last week," he said. "There was talk of a spirit week, and something for winter holidays. Since the mods asked for winter-themed suggestions winter's going to be here before we know it let's see if we can focus on that. Maybe see if you can present a rough plan to me by the end of the meeting so I can take it to the principal for approval?"

"A multi-cultural festival was mentioned last time," she said, leaning back in her chair a bit. "So, I think if we did something like that it'd be fun to have, like, a snow sculpture contest or maybe a snowball war where people signed up in teams for it."

"Maybe something with sports," Ender added, moving his leg a little to keep Mara quiet. "There should be something we can do to get people moving. We could have some more competitions of different types."

"A massive snowball fight would definitely count as exercise," Harvey said. "If there's a big enough hill around here, a sled race wouldn't be out of the question."

"Maybe ice-skating on the pond too?" she suggested. "If it's cold enough, I mean, for the ice to be thick enough."

"Oh god, cue me falling my ass," he said and laughed. "Fun though!"

"I'm definitely for that idea!" Turtle submitted with a laugh, although she knew she was just as likely to end up on her butt.

"Sounds like it could be fun," Joan agreed, also knowing she was not the most graceful person.

"Oh!" Turtle, with so much stuff going on, just about nearly forgot, but then it struck her like a brick through a window. "Ino and I were talking about something the other day, that we thought we'd bring up. This place could really use some comprehensive and informative handbooks for incoming students, so that there's less confusion and distress at the start of new semesters..."

Ino tugged at her hair. "And I'm no better for remembering," she said, flushing a bit. "We thought we might like to include things like tips and tricks on what to tell your parents about Fandom, how to survive a weekend when they visit, what sort of weirdness to expect... that sort of thing. Oh! And holidays, what they are and stuff. That one confused me a lot, before I went through them."

"But I like the confusion and distress for incoming students," Jenny said. "It's funny."

"I don't know," Joan said. "That's what the big brother/sister thing is for, right? And it's not like I would have been more likely to believe a handbook than I was Hannibal."

"But it's not like it would hurt," Turtle pointed out.

"True," Joan agreed.
