History in Living Colour - Friday, Period 3 (Week 10)

Students arriving for class today would find themselves in the Danger Shop which looked a good deal like the workshop of Leonardo Da Vinci. That's because it was a recreation of Leonardo Da Vinci's workshop. Models dangled from the ceiling, candlelight added some illumination to the sunlight streaming in from the large windows.

Every table in the large room was cluttered with maps and drawings and paintings and models. Then there was the inventor himself. The Doctor didn't say anything by means of introduction, but instead stood at the back of the crowd. Da Vinci would speak for himself.

Da Vinci was puttering away at the back table, gazing out the window from time to time as if finding inspiration from the view below. He looked up when the class had gathered. "Well, come in, come in, welcome! Lovely how those two words fit together so well-come-ingly isn't it?"

Robin had never noticed that before. "Oh yeah!" he realized. "They do!"

The old man beamed. "Well, don't just stand there, my dear - are you a frog? A speaking frog? Goodness, the world is full of miracles. Or perhaps the glue I was using earlier was far stronger than I had imagined. Still, come, speak with me."

"I prefer the miracles theory." Robin giggled. "What are you working on now?"

Peyton was here and a bit awed at the chance to talk to herself Da Vinci.

Dick was here and couldn't help but wonder if Da Vinci could have turned himself into a protector of the night, fighting crime in Renaissance Italy with the help of amazing gadgets of his own invention.

It was possible.

Back in junior high, I had a friend who did a book report on the Windows 95 manual. Since this is also a Microsoft product, I think it must.

But why would you read the manual? Just start pressing buttons and see what happens!
