Care for Magical Creatures; Period One. [ 11/10 ]

Today was a very exciting day for the class, indeed, as today was the day that their eggs were going to hatch! The danger shop classroom was stocked to the teeth with anything at all that might need to be available, from things to feed the little creatures with to weapons just in case they do end up quite hostile to flame retardant cloaks and squeaky little chew toys!

"Good morning, class!" Minsc greeted them. "Please go and care for your egg until they hatch and be prepared for whatever may come out! I have no better idea than you, so today should be a very interesting class! Be prepared for anything, as such is the way with magical creatures!"

The first thing that Sam remembered about manticores was that they ate humans. Really, it was kind of hard to think about anything past that, but a baby manticore was still a baby, and Sam couldn't just let it sit there. He crouched down closer, and took a chance on holding out his hand. "Hi there," he said, quietly and non-threatening.

The baby manicore leaned forward, to sniff at the offered hand, extremely tentatively. It helped that a manticore had a face of a man, and therefor seeing another human face made it a little easier for it to trust Sam, but it still wasn't sure. It sniffed at the hand, thinking that it smelled oddly appetizing, and then back off a little, watching him carefully to see what he would do, waiting for some sign of a threat.

Sam went to give the manticore a little pet, trying to be non-threatening and soothing at the same time.

The manticore pulled back for a moment, then blinked, and let himself be pet; he looked...confused, if anything, not quite sure what to make of all of this.
