Care for Magical Creatures; Period One. [ 11/10 ]

Today was a very exciting day for the class, indeed, as today was the day that their eggs were going to hatch! The danger shop classroom was stocked to the teeth with anything at all that might need to be available, from things to feed the little creatures with to weapons just in case they do end up quite hostile to flame retardant cloaks and squeaky little chew toys!

"Good morning, class!" Minsc greeted them. "Please go and care for your egg until they hatch and be prepared for whatever may come out! I have no better idea than you, so today should be a very interesting class! Be prepared for anything, as such is the way with magical creatures!"

Dor jumped a little as the egg began to shake. "Oh!" he cried out and flailed a little bit and wondered what he should do. Should he help with the breaking of the shell? Or should he just let nature take its course.

He flailed one more time and decided to just let it hatch on his own and only intercede if he had to do so.

It seemed like Dor had made the proper choice; the egg settled, a bit suddenly, but it was just for a moment. Whatever was inside, it seemed, had one hell of a punch, because a curled-up paw broke through the shell, and then a second one. They broke apart the shell just enough that a head could poke, the beak of the little bird head doing the rest of the work for the wee little griffin.

"Oh! A griffin!" Dor cried out happily. "I've never seen a baby version of you before."

He paused for a moment and tilted his head. "I didn't know you came from eggs either."

Down the way, there were unicorns being born from eggs. At least this one actually had bird parts to it.

The griffin let out a little squawk and tried to flap his wings to fly, although he was still way too young for that sort of thing.

"I think you need to be a little bigger for that," Dor grinned. "Are you hungry?"

With another flap of his tiny wings, the griffin let out another, eager-sounding squawk.

"Well I don't have any Griffin food," Dor said reaching into his pack. "Would you like a pop tart?"

The griffin didn't know what a pop tart was; he didn't even really know what Dor had said. All he knew was that he was reaching for something, and he pranced a little happily in the hopes that it was some sort of food.

Dor grinned and opened up the foil to reveal a frosted strawberry pop tart. He broke off a corner and offered to the Griffin. "Here you go little guy."

The griffin sniffed it tentatively but, once he was sure it was food, he quickly nibbled the corner away from Dor, chomping it down.

He wasn't sure what he thought about it at first but, since his mouth opened up wide again, it could be assumed that it wasn't too bad.

Dor started breaking off more pieces and laying them out for the griffin. "Aren't you a cute thing?" Dor chuckled. "Too bad Grundy isn't here to tell me what you are saying. Then again he'd probably say something nasty and ruin everything."
