Care for Magical Creatures; Period One. [ 11/10 ]

Today was a very exciting day for the class, indeed, as today was the day that their eggs were going to hatch! The danger shop classroom was stocked to the teeth with anything at all that might need to be available, from things to feed the little creatures with to weapons just in case they do end up quite hostile to flame retardant cloaks and squeaky little chew toys!

"Good morning, class!" Minsc greeted them. "Please go and care for your egg until they hatch and be prepared for whatever may come out! I have no better idea than you, so today should be a very interesting class! Be prepared for anything, as such is the way with magical creatures!"

Ella might have called it pretty good on the slimy, because, as soon as a crack showed up and started opening, the only thing coming out of the egg at first was a leaking of thick, sticky yellow...sludge. Maybe slime. Liquid wasn't quite an appropriate word, it would seem.

Well, there went that shawl. Ella stopped singing and just held the egg-in-scarf bundle, watching it with a distinctly dubious look on her face.

She never would have guessed that such a pretty egg could hold .... that.

It would seem that eggs had a very, very ironic sense of humour.

The slime seemed to help the creature within pull apart the shells until it was cleared, although the only thing marking it from its surrounding goop was it's vague form, its beady eyes, and it's brightly grinning mouth. It sat happily gurgling in its own juices and pieces of shell, looking with fond, bubbling admiration toward its new mommy.

Ella had no idea what to call this thing. "Mommy loves you anyhow," she told it through clenched teeth, then tentatively patted it with an index finger.

Gooey.

She glanced around at her classmates. Why did everyone else get something cute?

He was cute! Just look at that adorable face!

The little blob of...whatever gurgled happily at the attention from the one-finger petting. He looked satisfied enough to just cuddle right up to Ella and take a nap; in fact, he seemed to try to ooze a bit closer to that effect.

"You're a cuddly little thing," Ella told it, in a tone of affection spiked with a hint of disgust.

She let it squirm closer and kept patting it, though, even though she kept the scarf between it and her blouse. Give her long enough and she might even decide she liked it.

There was more happy gurgling and attempts to cuddle Ella quite a bit, especially since she seemed so fond of him so far. If there was one thing about a slime, it was that they were definitely easy to please.
