Thursday meant it was time for Cooking Club which meant it was time for Ned to head down to the home ec classroom and start setting up. He supposed he could have done something to commemorate the recent election but he didn't know enough about politics to really feel like he could do it justice.

"So, hi," he said, hands shoved into his pockets and shoulders scrunched up. "Good to see you all again. Um, today I thought we'd do something a little different. Like really different. The past few times, we've been cooking and eating. Today, no eating. Today, I want you guys to make things that you think would work best in a food fight."

Ned had no idea where this idea had come from.

"Inevitably in the kitchen, you're going to get messy," he continued. "This is like an exercise of what makes you messy and what makes you not messy. Um, feel free to throw it at each other but try not to hurt anyone and don't worry about the cleanup."

With that, he gestured to the supplies and made sure cleaning things were at hand.

Hurley gave a wave to Hinata.

"Hey," he said. "How are ya?"

She gave him a smile back. "I have been w-well enough," Hinata said. "And y-you? How was the b-book?"

"I liked it," Hurley said. "Now I'm reading, like... text book stuff? And it's nowhere near as fun."

"For class?" she wondered. "Have y-you a class that requires a lot of reading?"

Hurley shook his head. "I'm researching flower stuff. Cause I work at the flower shop now."

"I've never b-been," she mused. "Though I've passed it a couple of t-times."

"It's nice," Hurley said. "I'll be working tomorrow, if you want to stop by."

A quick flash of a grin. "Maybe I m-might," Hinata said, smiling. "As l-long as Yei doesn't go missing again."

"Yei?" Hurley said. "I don't think I've met him... her... them."

"Ahhh," she flushed a bit, looking rueful. "Yei is a she--my k-kitten--and is f-far too adventurous in my o-opinion. I found her t-this morning sleeping u-under the bed of a g-girl I'd never met before."

"Kitten, awesome," Hurley said. "Though... I guess she helps you meet new people?"

"True," she said, almost thoughtful. "T-though I still wish she wouldn't run off and m-make me look for her."

"Yeah, that's gotta, like, make you worry and stuff," Hurley said. "Ever thought of, like... putting a little bell on her? I think that's... what they do with cows."

She laughed softly. "I am not s-sure that would help keep her w-where I like her. M-Merely increase the odds of her j-jingling at people."

Hurley chuckled. "Yeah. I only ever had a dog, so I'm not sure I got any other ideas."

"At least," she said, "here I d-don't have to w-worry about people hurting h-her. People wouldn't here, I d-don't think."

Hurley shook his head. "Definitely no hurting," he said. "I haven't met anyone here that wasn't at least kinda nice."

She nodded. "And e-even those who do not c-care overmuch for people, are n-not the sort to injure an a-animal. I w-worry more about her getting lost outside, r-really. If she got into the preserve..."

"That would suck," Hurley said. "Let's just... hope that doesn't happen."
