Newspaper Staff Meeting, 4 pm, Journalism Room

Today's pastries and coffee were accompanied by a big bowl of Halloween candy. There were also some orange-and-black sugar cookies.

Rikku was totally in the Halloween spirit.

Rikku was giving him a careful glance. Then she nodded.

"Very easy rant," she said. "Happens a lot. Someone's in power, they want to keep power, they create scapegoats. This group, those people. Anything to keep people from noticing what they're doing."

She bit her lip and lowered her voice. "Is someone ... giving you crap?"

Because she had bombs, and all.

"Nothing I can't deal with." Warren's lips twitched into something of a wry smirk. "I have to write an apology letter to a bigot," he stated. "It's gonna be great."

"'I'm sorry you're a small-minded jerk'?" Rikku asked. "That sucks. This place isn't usually like that, I swear. Nobody's said anything to me. If someone's treating you like crap for being you ... I'm totally willing to help you beat them up."

Warren shook his head.

"I'm good and capable of beating people up on my own, thanks," he said, shifting his weight uncomfortably. "Anyhow, it wasn't me that was singled out. I just did something stupid. I'll take my punishment- I deserved it. But I'm not sorry for what I did. Not for a single damn minute."

"I wasn't dissing your ass-kicking abilities," she said cheerfully. "Just offering back-up if you need it. And standing up to bullies is always the right answer. Good job."

"I wouldn't call him a bully. Just a jerk." Warren shrugged. "Besides, they don't take well to beating on the faculty. The semester will end soon enough anyhow."
