The Danger Shop was set up like classy, high-stakes casino, with Bond sitting in the dealer's position at a large poker table, idly shuffling a deck of cards.

"Today we'll be looking at gambling," he began, once the class was seated. "The kind you play against an opponent, rather than relying on luck, or the skills of people or animals other than yourself, simply because they rely on on the kind of skill sets that it would be frowned upon for me to teach you." As opposed to teaching them to play cards, yes.

"However," he continued. "The game is not stud, nor baccarat, nor Texas Hold'em. Instead you will be merely cutting the cards, since today, I'm going to be teaching you about bluffing, which is one of the most important skills a gambler, or anyone else for that matter can possess."

Bond then went on to explain bluffing as it applied to poker, and some of the ways you could pick up on if your opponent was bluffing or not, displaying a remarkable poker face the entire time. "Now, I want you all to pair off, and each of you will pick a card from the deck, I then want you to bluff your opponent as to the value of your card, betting on who has the higher value. You can play multiple games against multiple opponents if you wish, or watch a particularly interesting match so long as you don't overly interfere."

"Okaaaaay," Triela muttered to herself doubtfully as she looked around. She didn't think this was likely to come up for her back home.

Liir wandered over, not having talked to her previously but--

"Care to team up?"

"Sure!" Triela shot him a huge grin. "I'm Triela."

"Liir," he said with a quick bow of his head in greeting.

"How do we want to get started?"

"I guess we each get a card?" she suggested a bit doubtfully. She wasn't sure how this was supposed to be useful.

"I'd think we'd need a hand," he said as he looked at the cards before scratching at his ear.

"But we could do it with one. Care to start?"

He pushed the deck toward her.

"Sure," Triela drawled as she reached out and drew a card.

"Huh," she said mildly as she took a look at it.

Liir took his own card and looked at it before schooling himself to blankness. Instead, he looked over at Triela thoughtfully.

"Mine's higher," Triela smirked.

He just tilted his head and smiled.

She couldn't know that. She didn't know what he had.

"You keep thinking that," the smirk grew.

Of course she didn't know, but she was pretty good at head games.

"The thought was thought. No need for thinking."

Her smirk could grow. He just calmly looked back to her.

"You want to make this interesting?" Triela asked, eyebrow raised in challenge.

"If you'd like, though I can't think of how this could get more interesting."

"A bet," she smirked.

"If you'd like," he agreed.

"On what?"

"I don't know... but something good."

She lightly bit her lip as she thought about it.

"Well," he ventured with a flash of a grin, "what do you have to wager?"

"I'm pretty sure I can't give you any of my guns..." And her bears were totally out of the question.

"I'm good at calligraphy?"

"And I at cooking," he offered in return, if they were going to do a service-based wager. Something he'd seen often enough between the soldiers in their card games. He'd never taken part, but as always he'd watched and learned more than even he realized.

"A meal or a piece of calligraphy?"

"I think that sounds fair."

Triela smirked. "But before you commit, I should warn you: I'm going to demand something nice. Are you that sure of your card?"
