The Danger Shop was set up like classy, high-stakes casino, with Bond sitting in the dealer's position at a large poker table, idly shuffling a deck of cards.

"Today we'll be looking at gambling," he began, once the class was seated. "The kind you play against an opponent, rather than relying on luck, or the skills of people or animals other than yourself, simply because they rely on on the kind of skill sets that it would be frowned upon for me to teach you." As opposed to teaching them to play cards, yes.

"However," he continued. "The game is not stud, nor baccarat, nor Texas Hold'em. Instead you will be merely cutting the cards, since today, I'm going to be teaching you about bluffing, which is one of the most important skills a gambler, or anyone else for that matter can possess."

Bond then went on to explain bluffing as it applied to poker, and some of the ways you could pick up on if your opponent was bluffing or not, displaying a remarkable poker face the entire time. "Now, I want you all to pair off, and each of you will pick a card from the deck, I then want you to bluff your opponent as to the value of your card, betting on who has the higher value. You can play multiple games against multiple opponents if you wish, or watch a particularly interesting match so long as you don't overly interfere."

Hurley tried to play smooth. "Oh yeah, well... I'll raise you to a quarter." He smiled, trying to make it seem like he was confident in his card.

Gavin had to think a minute on if he even had a quarter. "Quarter, huh?" He peeked at his card again. "You're gonna lose that quarter if we keep betting."

"Yeah... well," Hurley said, out of witty banter. "My card is... good."

"So's mine," Gavin said and forced a smile. "This is hard, isn't it?"

"Yeah, just a little," Hurley said. "I guess I got, like... an honest face or something."

"And I just don't like to lie," he said and twirled his card. "My card's...all right, I guess."

"Mine's pretty bad," Hurley said. "Winner gets a quarter, though."

"Quarter can...buy some bragging rights," Gavin said. "Wanna show them?"

Hurley nodded and flipped his card. It was the four of spades.

"It's not so good."

Gavin flipped his and shook his head, unwilling to believe a six of clubs had won. "I think we both had bad cards."

"Yeah," Hurley said. "You know what they say. Unlucky at cards, unlucky at... something... else. Yeah."

"I hope my luck's not as bad as this card," Gavin said and laughed. "I need some good luck."

"Oh yeah, dude?" Hurley said. "Got something big coming up?"

"Well, graduation in a few months and then it's back home and re-joining the military," he said. "So, good luck, yeah."

"Oh," Hurley said. "Yeah, that's kinda... dude. I really hope you get your good luck going on."

"You and me both," he said. "If not, I'll have to compensate or hope my squadron has really good luck overall."

"Yeah dude," Hurley said. "I'll like... keep my fingers crossed for you."
