Beka shared a sympathetic smile. "No problem is intractable for a woman of strength and intelligence. For now, though, you are here and he is there. Maybe that will encourage him to find a solution." She very much hoped so. Seeing Alanna upset like this was disconcerting in the same way as it would be to see Callisto so distressed. "Would you like to meet for coffee to talk sometime?"

"Tomorrow, Sunday, I have no fixed plans. Voicemail me and we'll arrange something. If I don't hear from you, I'll call." She studied Alanna, then quietly offered a bit more support. "Rest well. Dream happily."
