Physics, Monday, Class #4, Period 4

The students should have handwavily received notice to meet in the Danger Room Shop this afternoon. However, if they hadn't had time to check their e-mail, they might find the yawning and exhausted-looking Sam to be more lenient than they might otherwise expect. A sign had also been posted on the classroom door.

"Hello," she greeted the students as they filed in. "We'll still be having class, but I wanted to have the protection of this room's safety protocols for the practical part of today's lesson. You'll also probably a very large number of fire extinguishers and fire-proof padding." They'd probably also notice a large number of high-powered squirt guns, some red food coloring, a bunch of crash-testesque dummies and a number of tasers. "While I wasn't here this weekend to experience the latest bout of weirdness, there's something about Fandom that requires you to think fast on your feet. Here's one way to improvise a weapon that might work. If it doesn't work, I would like you to tell me why not, using these formulas." She wrote several formulas for electric conductivity, resistance, volume, and ways to determine trajectories.

"Oh, and if you point either the stun guns or the electrified water pistols at each other, I will assign detention," she said in a voice that brooked no argument. "Even water pistols will cause a problem, since you'll then be working with electricity. That's what the dummies are for."

"Back to Hell, or at least to his island," Romeo said with a nod. "He shot me."

Gratefully, he added, "Thank you. I can hold things still, at least, and I can use my other hand a little."

"Well, let's hope he hates the island as much as he hates Hell, all Montagues, and thee" Sokka replied, with a shrug.

He attacked the taser with a screwdriver, taking it to pieces, and began the process of attaching the bits to the water gun, occasionally asking Romeo to "hold this a sec".

"I tell you one thing," he muttered, as the work was progressing. "The water's going to leak all over. NO ONE is firing this thing without wearing thick rubber gloves."

"It didn't seem to have humbled him as much as one would hope," Romeo scowled, then let Sokka go about the work.

"Maybe a wetsuit as well," he added. "Are you sure that piece can't be tightened more?"

"We're dealing with plastic, here," Sokka pointed out. "Too tight, and it'll break."

He looked around at the supplies. "Maybe we need more duct tape."

"That's always the answer, isn't it?" Romeo decided, reaching for the roll.

"Most of the time," Sokka answered with a grin. "Not if you're trying to make things blow up, but most of the rest of the time."

He took the roll from Romeo and started trying to plug any spots that looked like they'd leak, but then gave up and just covered the whole gun in tape. A few more tweaks later and... "Just about ready, I think. You still want the first go, or are you going to make me be the one to risk my life?"

"I think you can have the honor," Romeo decided. "You did the work, you should get the fun first."

"Suit yourself," Sokka told him.

He found some rubber gloves, and goggles -- not that they were all that necessary, but you just couldn't do a science experiment without goggles. After suiting up he loaded the gun with water, aimed at a dummy, cackled madly, and fired.

There was a small boom, and the dummy fell over with lightning crackling across its surface and tiny flames burning here and there.

Unfortunately, so did Sokka.
