StuCo elections, School Lobby, Monday morning

In lieu of Nathan's usual office hours, he instead made sure that everything was set up for the Student Council Elections. Like any proper election, he set up a boundary so that there was a safe zone for voting, and a place where last minute campaigning could happen. There was also a table with flyers in case anyone wanted to read their candidates' positions.

He also posted the rules:

ELECTION RULES:

1. You may only vote within your class
2. Freshmen vote for one candidate, all others vote for two
3. No campaigning by the voting box

Nathan debated adding something about requiring voters to bring him coffee, but he did actually believe in fair elections.

All that was left was one other sign:

VOTE NOW!

[ooc: OCD is up! OOCly the elections will close at 9am Eastern, tomorrow (Sept 23) ICly they are only going on today, Sept 22.]

Sam rolled his eyes, before getting a little more serious. "You know that goes both ways, right? If you're ever in trouble..." He trailed off and waved his hand, hoping Peter would understand the rest.

"I'll call on the guy I can't vote for," Peter promised.

"I hope you mean me, because there's a lot of us."

Peter laughed. "There's only one guy I can't vote for in my heart. And don't feel a need to say anything because I realize how lame that sounds now that I've said it out loud."

Sam didn't need to say anything, and started laughing instead, more than he had in quite a few days.

There was only one mature way to respond to this.

Peter flipped Sam off.

Sam kept snickering before trying to look contrite. "It's a good thing you can't vote for me, or I would have just lost it."

"You know I could go over to Nathan if I wanted this kind of abuse," Peter told him.

"You knew it sounded lame, you said so yourself," Sam pointed out. "But unlike Nathan, I think your lameness is endearing."

"Ooo, very good save," Peter said, with approval. "No wonder I like you."

"I can be especially smart when I need to be," Sam replied.

"Great, now you know I only want you for your brain," Peter teased. He leaned in to give Sam another quick kiss.

"I don't mind that at all," Sam replied.

"Who knew I'd end up with a thing for nerds?" Peter asked.

"Can I pretend your thing for nerds only extends to me?" Sam asked.

"You know, funny thing, it does." Peter grinned at him.

"Funny how that works," Sam teased. "Guess that's why you've put up with me for so long."

"Now you know my secret," Peter said. "I'm all out. Think you can still hang with me?"

Sam laughed softly. "You know I don't mind hanging with you, ever."

"Lucky me," Peter said, giving Sam a private smile. "Should I let you get back to buttering up your constituants?"

"Probably," Sam said, giving Peter a smile of his own. "Make sure you vote wisely."

"One more for good luck?" Peter suggested, leaning in to give Sam a parting kiss.

Sam leaned in and made sure it was a good parting kiss.

It was good enough that Peter almost didn't want to part, but he knew Sam had work. "Catch you later?"

"Definitely," Sam said, looking pleased.
