StuCo elections, School Lobby, Monday morning

In lieu of Nathan's usual office hours, he instead made sure that everything was set up for the Student Council Elections. Like any proper election, he set up a boundary so that there was a safe zone for voting, and a place where last minute campaigning could happen. There was also a table with flyers in case anyone wanted to read their candidates' positions.

He also posted the rules:

ELECTION RULES:

1. You may only vote within your class
2. Freshmen vote for one candidate, all others vote for two
3. No campaigning by the voting box

Nathan debated adding something about requiring voters to bring him coffee, but he did actually believe in fair elections.

All that was left was one other sign:

VOTE NOW!

Angela shot a smile at Ella as she came down to put her vote in.

"I didn't realise you were running," she said. Honestly, she had no idea who was running at all, but it seemed as good an opener as any.

"I didn't do a very good job at it," Ella admitted. "Here, have a muffin, at least."

"You're here," Angela pointed out helpfully. "When most sane people, are in bed still sleeping rather than campaigning. I say that gets you points."

"I hope it's enough to get people to vote for me," Ella fretted, after pausing for a genuine smile at Angela. "I had to get up for classes, but the muffins were work..."

Buying them and carrying them back from town totally counted.

Angela grinned and nodded reassuringly. "Definitely enough for my vote," she replied.

"I can't really say I understand anyone wanting the job, but--" she shrugged. "Each to their own."

"Each to their own," Ella agreed. "The boy I'm seeing sort of talked me into it. I like to help out where I can, and this seemed a good way to do so."

"Aw, that's so great he's all encouraging like that!" Angela said. Supportive boyfriends were usually a very good sign. "How long have you two been together?"

"It was more of a challenge," Ella revealed. "Dick's running too."

She shrugged. "Maybe two months? It's low-key."

"Ooh." That could actually be even more fun sometimes. "What do you get if you win?" she asked with a grin. Angela, kind of nosy? Never.

"I need to ask him that," Ella grinned. "He still owes me for my birthday, too."

"Oh, you could have so much pull with those two put together," Angela said thoughtfully. "Add that to the power you have already just by being a girl... You could have a slave for life there."

Ella didn't entirely like the idea of having a slave, but she understood it was just a way of talking. "I should tell him that."

Angela laughed and nodded. "You should," she agreed. "Have fun with that. You don't know when you'll get that kind of opportunity again."
