It was once again Monday, and Ghanima was seated on her desk, little red book in her hands.

"'There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare,'" she announced once everyone was seated. "So speaks Sun Tzu in the second P'ien. In it, he speaks of provisioning an army, and managing your resources."

"Today, we look at it from a non-combat viewpoint," Ghanima said, smiling at them. "If you're conducting a business merger, you should approach it the same as any other battle. Prolonged negotiations are something to avoid at all costs, since you usually end up losing something the longer you are engaged."

"Romantic relationships are the same way; as much fun as the chase can be, a prolonged pursuit of your target increases the chance of them slipping away," she teased, eyes flashing with amusement. "How can you apply the suggestions made in the second P'ien to these two situations? I'd like you to break into groups and discuss."

Jaina, officially tired of being a kitten, was still there and sitting atop her desk to listen. She just hoped enough people had heard radio by now to know who she was that everyone wouldn't be staring again.

And that the novelty had worn off enough that no one would try anything like dangling a string in front of her. That'd just be embarrassing.

"Miss Solo." Ghanima stopped by the desk, looking down at Jaina with amusement. Clearly, she listened to radio. "While I appreciate your dedication to class, animal transformations are considered an excused absence. You're free to go, if you wish."

Jaina looked up at her with her wee kitty head slightly tilted, tail twitching. While she wanted to stay in class, the fact that she could only speak in adorable mew noises no one could understand unless they'd taken certain past classes here would make things difficult. At least she'd tried!

Ghanima did not speak Cat, but she had grown up with many of them running around the sietch, and the tail-twitching was familiar.

"You are, of course, welcome to stay," she said, smiling at the kitten. "And you have permission to bite any classmates that try to place a bow on you during the class."

Knowing her students, it was possible one of them might try.

Jaina visibly perked up. She knew she liked this teacher for a reason.

Tahiri took one look at the kitten -- who yes, she knew by now was Jaina -- and actually started laughing. A lot.

Yes, she was kind of surprised by that too.

Well it was nice that someone was enjoying this so much. Jaina looked slightly affronted, which was about the default state for a cat anyway, and turned back to class as if going "Hmph!"

It was very cute.

Disgustingly cute, almost, in about the last way ever that Tahiri would have associated with Jaina.

That said, it was still Jaina, so Tahiri got the laughing under control fairly quickly. But wow, she'd needed that.

Ben sat there staring at his desk and wondering what it said about a galaxy that had been at war for the majority of his father's lifetime.

Probably nothing good.

Lee tried to pay attention but his focus was completely elsewhere.

Ino considered him from the corner of her eye for a good bit before a note got flicked on to his desk.

Brood on?

It took Lee a moment to break out of his, yes, brood before opening the note and reading it.

He wrote one back and flicked it back over.

Something like that. That obvious?

A bit, yeah. 'Course, I know the signs, but still. She considered her note before adding. You want to talk, I'll listen. If you don't, my door's still open. I can hide you behind my plants if people go looking for you 'cause they won't let you just brood in peace.

The last line made Lee laugh and he smiled over at her.

Not so sure about the talking but I might take you up on the plants. I'm short enough to hide behind them, at least. Stupid height.

Laughter was good, and she smiled back.

Well, really, you could even just flop out and read on the spare bed and I'd just rearrange my plants around the bed. My room's a bit of a jungle really, haven't had a roommate since, like, February so I've been able to do what I want. And at least you're taller than me? Though I guess it matters more for boys...

At least I'm taller than someone. I might take you up on it, definitely. I'm going kinda stir crazy in my room. Better than where I was though. Much. At least here, I can count on distractions.

He flipped the note back to Ino.

Door's open, if you need it. And I've heard tell that I'm a rather good distraction.

Thanks. I'll take you up on it, I'm sure. I appreciate the offer even if I don't.

And once the laughing was done with, it was right back to being thoughtful and kind of bothered by the lesson.

Even if she wasn't a serious student of galactic history, the sheer number and variety of slagged ships in the Tatooine deserts said a lot about prolonged warfare.

Agnes took careful notes.

Ella listened carefully, nodding once she understood.

He was very much listening. This was, after all, important. Part of the reason he'd taken the course.

Alice was taking cautious notes.
