The Cafeteria; Lunch [ 09/09 ]

Chad was glad he followed his instincts and went down the cafeteria today to see what they had for lunch instead of making his own because it appeared to be taco day. He loved taco day. It had been, for a long time, a rather love-hate relationship, though, considering how he felt that liking taco day was like fulfilling some sort of blatant and uneducated stereotype, but...

Tacos were tasty. He couldn't help that. So Chad embraced the taco day, filled a plate up, grabbed a bottle of Tabasco, and found a seat.

"Running into anything else you like about Fandom other than robots?" Chad asked. "There's definitely a lot goin' on here..."

"Oh yeah," Hurley said. "I mean, everybody so far has been pretty nice. Mostly, yeah. Way cooler than Santa Monica."

"Mostly?" Chad asked, poised over his next bite and wondering if that meant someone hadn't been. It seemed rare enough around here that someone wouldn't be nice that it made him wonder...

"There was a dude at the shop on Saturday," Hurley said. "But he was alright once I found what he needed. Mostly."

That brought a slight frown out of Chad, because at the shop concerned him. "Who was it?" he asked. "And what was it that he needed?"

"Mr. Cullen?" Hurley said. "Like, I had trouble finding if we had an inventory list, so I just had to search the CDs for him. And then, like... I didn't know how to take his credit card."

Chad winced a little. "Computer stuff. That's right, it might be a little..updated from what you're used to. It's easy, though; I could run it through with you real quick on Saturday, if you want."

"Yeah, that'd be cool," Hurley said. "I shoulda, like, asked about it when you came in."

"I should have thought about it while I was in," Chad admitted, although, honestly, his mind was on other things. His shoulders sagged a little in thought, ruminating deeply as he chewed his taco. "You said Mr. Cullen? He's one of the new teachers, isn't he?"

Chad was thinking of sending him an apology gift certificate for the experience, or something like that.

"Yeah," Hurley said. "Oh, and like, never mention that he looks young. He's kinda... cranky about it."

Chad's head tilted a little with confusion. "Isn't it...usually the other way around?"

Hurley shrugged. "You'd think," he said.

"Well," Chad said, with a rumbling tone of revelation after thinking a moment, "no point in really trying to figure out everyone here. Everyone's just too different."

Hurley nodded. "Yeah, it's no big. Like, honestly? It was just one hiccup. Everyone else has been totally cool."

Chad nodded. "Yeah, most people here are cool."

Hurley munched on another taco.

"Plus, I think I'm getting addicted to Squishys. They're awesome."

"You should try the Chinese place," Chad suggested, after trying to think of what he was addicted to around here, if anything. "Really good."

"I'll check it out, yeah," Hurley said. "Thanks Chad." He smiled.

Then, he spotted the girl in the scarf.

"Dude... I'm gonna go see if that girl wants to come over here."
