Childhood Games, Class #7, Thursday period 1

Today class met in the park again, with tape lines down in a large rectangle, bisected by another line in the middle. Lily was looking semi-dressed down today, with a whistle around her neck.

"You've been a great class," she said, "and it's been terrific teaching you all. And because this is our last class, I'm going to show you a time-honored tradition of aggressive cruelty and competitiveness called dodgeball. Here are the rules. I've divided you into teams. Each side starts with one ball so we have two total. You proceed to whip the ball at someone on the other team. If you hit them, they're out and they need to go sit over there. But if they catch the ball, you're out. Last person standing wins it for their team. Also, I have a first aid kit here, complete with band-aids for you attention-grabbers. Any questions? Okay, go play!"

Really, more of an explanation.

Dodgeball. Yay!

...why would you want to play a game where people are TRYING to hit you?

This and many other things Liir will wonder when he's actually had sleep the night before.

Viki blinked, and frowned.

Why was she supposed to let people hit her?

This game looked awesome. Anemone bounced slightly, eager to get started.

Lion-o hadn't played dodgeball before, but he really liked the idea.

Oh God, dodgeball. Francine looked around for a handy tree to hide behind.

Huh, it was almost like combat training. Alex thought he could handle this.

With the ball in hand, Amber threw it (though not as hard as she could) towards the other team, hoping to get someone out.

"WHOOO!" She cheered herself on.

Liir held the ball in his hand and decided to keep it for the moment in case someone threw something at him.

Half awake + dodgeball = not good.

Naomi got the ball and threw it towards the other team, hoping that it was hard enough to get someone out.

It was hard to end up with the ball when you were expending most of your mortal energy trying to NEVER COME NEAR IT. Anybody's ball. The other team's or your own, just on general principle.

Worf spotted the girl trying to avoid confrontation in a somewhat cowardly fashion.

He threw the ball at her in order for to be able to be ejected from the game without dishonoring her teammates.

If Francine had mindreading powers, which luckily for Chuck Bass, she didn't, she'd have said "Whaddya mean somewhat cowardly?" If she had, she'd probably have been standing there with her hands on her hips and got a stinging but harmless whack on the arm.

Instead, the words DIVE! DIVE! echoing through her head like she'd just spotted a German U-boat, Francine ducked -- straight into a face-full of dodgeball.

Splat.

...At least the grass was soft? And the little birdies were kind of pretty.

Worf pointed at Francine. "You are out!" he declared.

"Naaaaah not out. Just a lil' woo... woozy." She pushed herself up to her knees a bit too quickly and ooh, hey, look, the birdies didn't leave after all. Francine gave them a little wave.

Worf frowned. "Are you injured?"

Her cheek stung like a flash-sunburn where the ball had hit it, but the dizziness was mostly due to her own ungraceful swan-dive. Her hands started to come back into focus as she waved them in front of her face. Possibly showing a little too much fascination with the movement, but mostly un-loopy. "Nooooo. M'fine."

After getting his hands on a ball, Lucas tossed it overhand at the other team.

Lion-o, Gladys, Anemone, Viki, Sora, Turtle, Alec, Worf,

Worf took the ball and glared at the other team. He quickly calculated who would be the easiest target and the most difficult and then threw the ball at a particular person.

However he did not aim at the person's head. That would be dishonorable.

Viki still wasn't sure what to think, really, but she supposed that didn't rightly matter as she looked around for someone to toss the ball at.

Lucas ducked out of the way, running to grab hold of the loose ball before someone else got it.

Anemone looked at the ball for a moment before grinning evilly at the other team and throwing it. Hard.

She is here for all you teachy or band-aid-givey needs.

Omg I wake up in four hours.

Oh god, I'm gonna miss the examples for this class SO FREAKING MUCH.

Francine: *hides behind a tree, failishly* Wow, does she have dodgeball issues.

Actually if anyone would like to seriously whap her one (and deal with the likely Katchoo-related fallout later) go for it.
